Exciting news, Maui Parents! 🌺

On August 31st, 2024, Pediatric Therapies Hawai‘i is hosting a Parent Training/Support Group at Honokowai Beach Park, specially designed for families with children with special needs and autism. This is just the beginning—these meetups will be held monthly/ bi-monthly to help empower and connect our community!

For this kickoff event, Pediatric Therapies Hawai‘i has chosen the perfect spot! Honokowai Beach Park offers a playground for the keiki and a Keiki Corner where kids can get creative with fun projects and art. 🌊🎨 While the little ones enjoy these activities, parents will have the opportunity to connect with others who understand the unique challenges and joys of raising a child with autism.

Here’s what is planned:

💡 Sharing valuable strategies and resources to support your child’s development.
🤝 Creating opportunities for parents to connect and build a supportive community- handouts for idland services from all providers
🎤 Featuring HABA guest speakers and experts who will provide insights on topics related to special needs parenting.
🍪 Providing light refreshments as parents share experiences and discuss their questions.

Our first event of the year is in the horizon and we are taking a journey through Hawaiian culture through the art of Ulana Lau Hala (Lauhala weaving). Instructed by our very own Events Chair, Aulani Latorre-Holt, our HABA members have the opportunity to learn the rich history of lauhala weaving and take a trip back in time to understand the significance of this art form.
