The famous finale of the Honolulu Festival is just two days away! Mark your calendars — the stunning Nagaoka Fireworks Show will illuminate the skies on Sunday, March 10 at 8:30 p.m.! 🎇 Spectators are encouraged to arrive at the beach early to reserve their viewing spots.

Following the Grand Parade, the Nagaoka Fireworks Show has marked the finale of the Honolulu Festival since 2012. While fireworks are usually considered celebratory and entertaining, these convey a strong message of peace. We’ll see you soon under the sky filled with fireworks!

We’re just days away from the Grand Parade at the 2024 Honolulu Festival, on Sunday, March 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. Be sure to stay for the Nagaoka Fireworks Show at 8:30 p.m. too!

Pro tips: Plan to arrive early to save your spot. Kalakaua Avenue will be closed at 3:30 p.m. Kuhio Avenue will be open as usual.

Park at paid public lots like the Honolulu Zoo or at shopping centers like the Royal Hawaiian Center or International Market Place around Waikiki.

To avoid traffic, we strongly recommend using public transportation.

This Friday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., hundreds of local elementary and middle school students will converge at the Hawai'i Convention Center for an immersive behind-the-scenes cultural experience. 🇯🇵

For many years, the Honolulu Festival Foundation has created education-oriented events where students can learn about different regions, dances, and songs alongside visiting cultural groups and see the parade floats, such as the Daijayama dragon, up close!

The famous finale to the Honolulu Festival is back with the stunning Nagaoka Fireworks Show on Sunday, March 10 at 8:30 p.m.! 🎇 The Nagaoka Fireworks Show has marked the finale of the Honolulu Festival since 2012 and while fireworks are usually considered celebratory and entertaining, these convey a strong message of peace.

The two cities who were once enemies in World War II have since become sister cities. Honolulu suffered the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Navy without warning, and Nagaoka is the hometown of Isoroku Yamamoto, who directed the attack and fell victim to the bombing by the U.S. Army. It has since been significant for the two cities to reconcile and promote the friendship between the U.S. and Japan, which contributes to world peace. ✌️

Not only is the Honolulu Festival a fun-filled celebration of cultures, it is also an educational opportunity for the students and communities of Hawai‘i. One of the ways it supports education is through the Maui Mikoshi Contest, where high school students from the island of Maui design Japanese “Mikoshi,” a decorative portable shrine.

Congratulations to H.P.Baldwin High School for winning this year’s Maui Mikoshi Contest! Find them visiting Honolulu Festival and marching in the Grand Parade with their award-winning Mikoshi. The winning Mikoshi will also be displayed at the Hawai‘i Convention Center during the Festival!
