We are the voice of Nebraska banking. While there, the Nebraskans decided to form a state association to represent Nebraska's fledgling banking industry.
In September 1889, a group of 47 Nebraska bankers traveled to Kansas City to attend a convention of the American Bankers Association. Four months later, the Nebraska Bankers Association became a reality with the organization's first convention held on Jan. 22, 1890. The NBA Leadership Class of 2026 kicked off their program with Session One in Omaha. The session was facilitated by Dr. Juli Lynch, focusing on leadership styles, skills, and personal development. The class will meet again in October for their next session focusing on NBA awareness, involvement, and leadership communication.

The NBA is proud to partner with 29 fellow state banking associations to promote the 2024 Fraud Academy - a 2-1/2 day program carefully curated for the financial industry and hosted by the Kentucky Bankers Association. The Fraud Academy curriculum targets over eighteen types of fraud, including check, elder, and cybercrimes, and introduces effective prevention tools.

The supposed advantages of a CDBC are uncertain, but the costs would be significant, including introducing unnecessary risks into the financial system.

This year's theme is "Together, let's make a big difference."
Today, the NBA announced the creation of the HALT Human Trafficking Fund. The fund will provide grants for education, data analysis and technology programs to help prevent human trafficking.
Human trafficking is a crisis that impacts all of Nebraska and the statewide presence of banks means the industry is uniquely positioned to bring leadership and awareness to help end human trafficking in our state.

The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (H.R. 7297/S. 3502) would curb the sale of consumers' information by credit reporting agencies when they apply for a mortgage. These "trigger leads" flood prospective homebuyers with phone calls, emails and texts.

Chefs for a Cause
For five weeks in January and February, NBA staff volunteered as "soup-er chefs" for weekly soup lunches. Staff paid to sample the soups as a fundraiser for The Gathering Place (a program of Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties) and Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach.

Our Story

While there, the Nebraskans decided to form a state association to represent Nebraska's fledgling banking industry. Four months later, the Nebraska Bankers Association became a reality with the organization's first convention held on January 22, 1890. A total of 232 banks were represented at this organizing convention, and the Nebraska Bankers Association came into being.
Now, more than 127 years later, Nebraska's banking industry continues to be united under the banner of the statewide trade association that was formed by those forward-looking pioneer bankers.
