đČâš What a week it's been! Our Upper School students have had an unforgettable time on their Outdoor Education trips, filled with adventure, bonding, and breathtaking views. From night hikes and skits by the campfire in Big Bear to exploring the majestic trees of Sequoia and team-building challenges in Santa Barbara, our Buckley Students have truly embraced the great outdoors. đ¶đ
The first week of school is coming to a close and we have made so many new friends! We spoke with a few students from Lower and Middle School who have either just started their adventure at Buckley, made a new friend, or both. Join us in celebrating the start of a new year and friendships.
Do you know what time it is? Itâs time for school! The Lower and Middle School was full of smiles, laughs, hugs, and joy today as they reunited with their friends and welcomed in their new classmates.

Session One of the Buckley Summer Camp is in the books! We spent the week playing fun games with friends, baking yummy treats, building our own robots, making our very own movies, and so much more! We canât wait for what the next five weeks have in store!

The Climate Action Team isnât the only group on campus with green thumbs! Second-grade teachers joined forces with the CAT to teach second-grade students about gardening and planted carrots, lettuce, green beans, and other vegetables!. Weâre excited to see what comes up đ±đ„đ«đ„Ź
Fourth-grade students brought their parents up to the Nature Trail to write haikus, observe nature, share facts about the trailâs history, and enjoy a moment of silence to appreciate the sounds of their environment. Thank you, Ms. Levitt, Ms. Wade, and Mr. Fichandler for inviting parents to share this special part of our campus and the fourth-grade day!
It was an artistic explosion â in the hallways, lockers, courtyards, and beyond! Thanks to the creativity of our student artists, Buckley transformed into its own art museum at the South By South Buckley Art & Film Festival
Do you know how much youâd weigh on Mars? Our first grade students certainly do after their trip to Griffith Observatory, when they weighed themselves on different planets and gazed at constellations
Buckley took over the Santa Monica Pier last night at the Buckley Fair! Thank you to the Parentsâ Association and all of the parents who volunteered their time to make the event a success. The pier was filled with smiles, laughs, and good times all around
Gilley Field came alive today during the Lower Schoolâs K to Grade Two Field Day! The students had such a fun time that even the parents couldnât resist jumping into the potato sack races
The Peanuts gang comes to life in Buckleyâs black box theater this week with the Middle Schoolâs production of âYouâre a Good Man Charlie Brown.â Thanks to the hard work of theater teacher Ms. Simpson and her Middle School cast and crew, performances, have been sold out for weeks!

We learned about water pollution, composting, the Gaia hypothesis, and waste produced by the Super Bowl. We heard music and poetry; we saw short films and art made from trash. Our minds were blown and consciousness was raised at Buckleyâs second annual Climate Conference. Thank you to all of those who spoke, researched, presented, and performed at this special, one-of-a-kind event!

The first day of spirit week kicked off with the ninth grade dominating the Theme Entrance, the eleventh and jumping high, and the twelfth grade being the best handless cookie eaters of them all! Eleventh grade is in the lead for now, but stay tuned for days two and three!
Besides wanting to explore their corn fields, Mr. Kohn and Upper School students took a trip to the University of Iowa to participate in its prestigious Nonfiction Writing Program!

We learned so much about Black historical figures from our community during February while celebrating Black History Month with school-wide art exhibits and presentations.
