Today, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) released the names of this year’s 16,000 semifinalists. VCS senior Cecillia Kim is among the less than 1% of the nation’s high schoolers who have been recognized for this esteemed title. She earns the opportunity to continue to compete to be a Merit Scholar and be among the 6,870 scholars to receive up to $26 million in scholarships. We are extremely proud of Cecillia and her amazing accomplishments. Congratulations!

Facing high-level competition, the Crusaders beat Hart High on games (40-35), but fell to Los Alamitos (4-2) and Mira Costa (3-3; 28-35).
