Our Southern Indiana Housing Initiative helps people manage their financial goals to become homeowners, and invests in repairs and safety upgrades to keep current homeowners in their homes. π‘
Thank you to New Directions Housing Corporation and Salvation Army of Southern Indiana for their help to make this program a success! This is just one part of our effort to support strong households throughout the Greater Louisville region.
Shoutout to Heaven Hill Brands' intern team that gave back with us today! ππ They filled 400 backpacks and 50 teacher kits, and stocked Dr. William H. Perry Elementary School's resource closet with 2,000 folders, 2,000 notebooks, pencils, erasers, markers and colored pencils, and dry erase markers!

Metro United Way thanks this team from the Whitney M. Young Jr. Job Corps Center for helping our Little Free Library program! ππ They built 6 new libraries to replace ones that got worn out from 9 years in the elements. Some of these young people will join our partners from a local carpenters union to install the libraries. We are so grateful for this community support! π€

We're so proud of these young scholars from the DuBois Academy! Through our Young Men United program, they've completed a year of college prep and mentorship as high school juniors. And it's just the beginning of their journey! The YMU program will support them through college graduation to make sure they have what they need to succeed. The future is bright π
π₯³ Our own Elliott Kelly, Jr. will give this year's keynote address at the 8th Annual West Louisville Youth Empowerment Summit presented by Louisville Central Community Centers, Inc! Elliott recently joined our team as the Senior Manager of Equitable Community and he is already a huge asset to our organization. The event is Friday, July 19. Go to LCCC's page for more info!
Elliott Kelly, Jr. serves as the Senior Manager of Equitable Communities at Metro United Way. In this role, he is responsible for engaging with and providing support to numerous organizations across Louisville. In addition to his role at Metro United Way, Elliott enjoys mentoring youth, coaching wrestling, public speaking, poetry, and photography. As a young emerging leader in our community, Elliott is well aware of the power of uplifting youth voices and the importances of expression through advocacy. On Friday, July 19th, 2024, Elliott will serve as the keynote speaker at the 8th Annual West Louisville Youth Empowerment Summit presented by LCCC.

Congratulations to Play Cousins Collective on the unveiling of the Sankofa Sanctuary at Chickasaw Park! This is just the start! π€ΈπΏβοΈ Metro United Way is investing $175,000 into this play area and bringing natural playground experts from Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest and Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) to add more features in the coming months!
