👏Congratulations to the Teach Kentucky 2024 cohort! 🎉 As of today all 42 are hired as classroom teachers for the 2024-25 school year! 👏

We welcomed this group into our community of educators in June, half of them moving to Louisville from points across the country. To say they have come far in these short 2 months is an understatement. We are all so proud and can't wait to see the positive impacts they make in the classrooms.

Over the last 6 weeks, our 42 new teachers have learned, grown, bonded, and integrated into the Louisville community.
Teach Kentucky is a community of educators and we are so thankful to welcome these new members. We are excited to watch them flourish in their careers as teachers.

We had the honor of hosting Rep. Pamela Stevenson at our Summer Institute on July 9th. Rep. Stevenson, the State Representative for Kentucky's 43rd House District, graced us with her presence and shared inspiring words with our new teachers.
A retired Air Force Colonel, attorney, and pastor, Rep. Stevenson brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to the table.
She extended her heartfelt gratitude to our teachers on behalf of the people of Kentucky, recognizing the invaluable contribution of educators.
Rep. Stevenson passionately described teaching as the most important job in the world, reaffirming the pivotal role that educators play in shaping the future.

🍎🌞 Today at the Summer Institute session, our new teachers completed the Predictive Index and engaged in collaborative activities to understand how they work individually and with others. One of the activities involved building a structure with cards, leading to serious competition and creative ideas to construct the tallest structure. The enthusiasm and teamwork were truly inspiring! Stay tuned for more updates from our dedicated new teachers.

A group of our new teachers and our Development Coordinator, Kristen Garner, spent their Friday morning at Dare to Care Community Kitchen.

Dare to Care goes above and beyond by providing food for those experiencing food insecurity, implementing innovative solutions, and doing so in a dignified manner. Their efforts truly make a positive impact on the lives of Louisvillians.

Thank you to Deja, James, Ian, Lucian, and Shae for giving back to your new community this morning. Your kindness and generosity truly embody the spirit of Teach Kentucky!

How to get teachers up early for training on a Friday in Summer??? 🍩 DONUTS! 🍩
We know there's serious controversy over the best donuts in Louisville but we went with Nords Bakery today. What other bakeries do our new-to-Lou teachers need to try?

Traditions continue for the 2024 cohort of Teach Kentucky! Our annual welcome party on Saturday night was a huge success, thanks to one of our amazing community supporters for hosting. Just like a family, Teach Kentucky cherishes its traditions, which are held true year after year.

Ramsi's Cafe on the World catered to the event, offering a delightful culinary experience. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, valuable connections, and community building.

We extend a huge thank you to our TKY alums, who generously contributed to the event's success and to the TKY board members in attendance. We truly appreciate their involvement and the connections they are fostering with our new teachers.

At Teach Kentucky, we believe in building a community of educators dedicated to supporting each other to make a lasting difference in education in Louisville.

Welcome home, Teach Kentucky 2024 Cohort! 🏫🍎✨

Friday night in NuLu was a sight to behold! Dozens of teachers, sporting their Teach Kentucky shirts, embarked on an Amazing Race-style adventure, mapping out the neighborhood and hunting for clues. It was all part of Teach Kentucky's annual scavenger hunt to mark the end of the first week of their summer institute.

Teams were tasked with solving a series of clues and riddles that led them to historic spots, restaurants, bars, and other exciting destinations across Louisville. The event was a brilliant way for the new cohort to explore their new city and uncover some hidden gems.

The night kicked off and wrapped up at Garage Bar, making it an unforgettable evening for all involved. It was a wonderful opportunity for the educators to bond, discover new places, and immerse themselves in the vibrant spirit of Louisville.

🎉 What a fantastic way to start the summer!
