Thank you Sgt. Dixon and Sgt. Kuykindall (National Guard Recruiters)for taking out time to come talk to our students about the military.
Sheffield Scholars really had a great time today on a Workplace Tour at Dave and Busterâs. The General Manager, Mr. James, did an excellent job of informing us of all the different jobs (server, busser, cook, customer service, dishwasher, front desk host, bartender, janitorial and games technician) at Dave and Busterâs. The majority of our students were interested in Winnerâs Circle- Customer Service Postions and they actually have positions available right now. Mr. James instructed the students that were 18 how to go online and apply. The students had a fun day at Dave and Busterâs today!!
What an outstanding Workplace Tour at Walmart Supercenter! Ms. Kimberly and Ms. Precious gave an outstanding tour. They told the students about all the different jobs at Walmart and the great opportunities. Walmart has a program called âLive Better Uâ that allows students to attend college while working and they will pay 100% of tuition and books for certificates, degrees and more. While at Walmart our students were gifted treats by a special lady.
Cakinâ It With Cupcake Cutie
A wonderful business to do a workplace tour and the cupcakes were delicious!! Today, we learned how to make cupcakes and decorate them. The students decorated the cupcakes with a Halloween theme. Ms. Emeka Buck (owner) did in outstanding job of hosting the tour. Everyone was so surprised of all the job opportunities at a bakery.
College tour at LeMoyne Owen College today. The students really enjoyed the homecoming festivities and the STEAM experiments.

Mrs. Walker gave out Taco Bell and McDonaldâs gift cards, NFL sweatshirts, pretty socks, stress balls, headbands and etc. for participation gifts.
Preview Day at Tougaloo College during Fall Break. Students were given information about admission, financial aid, scholarships, housing, club organizations and athletics. We were also able to tour the campus, had a complimentary lunch with a free Greek Show.
Workplace Tour at Oak Court Mall
Students ventured from store to store learning about the different job opportunities throughout the mall. Several stores were hiring and some students took advantage of using the QR Code to fill out the application and some stores were still giving out paper applications. Our students were given a lot of job information on today and hopefully it will be put to use.

What a sight to see? Yes, the Dixon Gallery and Gardens is a fine museum and public garden with innovative programs in the arts and horticulture. We truly enjoyed our visit and had a marvelous time making art.
This is how a few of Sheffield students spent their Saturday at East High School for AP Review Day.
Zach Borenstein (Employability Skills Instructor at TTC) visited our club on yesterday and the students were ecstatic. They played a game âJuggling My Lifeâ that modeled how good communication and teamwork are important to managing responsibilities. He then had students to share their interest, whatâs important to them and their future goals. In addition, Zach and the students wrote a song together about what is important to them and then they performed it.
Thank you Ms. Crystal Caulfield for the awesome tour of the Technical Training Center. Our students are very excited about starting job training for their future careers.
Our students took an Educational Field Trip to Crosstown Concourse where Hope Credit Union is located. Mr. Juan Carlos Yepez ( Financial Inclusion Officer) spoke to our students about how financial institutions operate and saving for the future.

Today, we had Princess of Fitness at Sheffield. She talked to our students about healthy eating habits, staying hydrated, exercising, having your own business and she even provided us with a total body workout. Princess of Fitness has been in business for 17 years. She has two different types of certifications: AFAA and Expert Rating with an expert rating on both. The work out was phenomenal and the students enjoyed the uptempo music and the high level of energy she brings.
Today, we enjoyed our field trip to East End Skating Center. Mr. Tim and Ms. Lisa did an exceptional job informing our students about the different jobs inside the skating center. The different jobs included: cashier, answering calls, scheduling the use of the skating center, providing skates to customers, tightening of the skates, preparing the skating surfaces, operating the snack bar, referees on the skating rink and custodians to maintain a clean center. The students now know the different positions at the skating center and the skill set needed to obtain one of those jobs.
Itâs a great start to summer!
