JC Runyon Foundation
Scholarship Foundation - we award undergraduate college scholarships for students affected by mental illness. www.jcrunyonfoundation.org We are here to help.
View our website for information on the two types of scholarships we offer. We recognize the financial burden in-patient psychiatric treatment can create in families. We also believe in the power of the hard work a patient has endured to successfully complete high school and be admitted to college. We understand that there are few scholarship opportunities when there are "holes" in the educational transcript.
Application submission time has been extended due to power outages and IT issues- gotta love that!
You now have until 7:00 CST to get all of your submissions in. 😜😇🤓
Power is restored!
Application Notice! All applications are due today by 5pm CST.
We are currently experiencing a power outage due to the storms so please bear with us. If the outage continues throughout the day, I will extend the deadline. So if you’re trying to email, we are unable to receive right now. 9:50 am.
Hopefully, power will be restored soon.
We want to wish our very own Miss Mary Cathryn White the most beautiful heavenly birthday. 💛
Mary Cathryn leaves behind a legacy of unconditional kindness, warm smiles, and a drive like no other. In her honor, the JC Runyon Foundation has a very special scholarship for young women like Mary Cathryn. Each year, one young lady is chosen for this scholarship to help them in their journey to live their next chapter.
Mary Cathryn inspired many to shine bright and love all, and we extend hugs, thoughts, prayers, and support to her sweet family.
To honor her 26th birthday, you can donate to the JC Runyon Foundation at jcrunyonfoundation.org today. Each donation provides scholarship and support to students like Mary Cathryn and their journey in recovery.
Happy birthday, until we meet again. 💛

We are so thankful for everyone who supports the JC Runyon Foundation, and our sponsors for the Taste of Tuscany do deserve a special shoutout!
A Taste of Tuscany is presented by a legendary winery founded and based in Tuscany, Italy - Tenuta Torciano Winery. The family owned winery has been practicing the art of wine making for over 300 years as began by their multi generational great grandfather, Bartolomeo Giachi. The winery has been passed down through the family for these centuries now being held by Pierluigi Giachi. Their art is their passion, and we are beyond thankful to have them here with us!
The evening will be held at the Memphis Botanic Gardens, a stunning 96,000 acre property in the heart of Memphis, TN. According to the MBG, their mission is to "enhance lives by connecting people with nature, increasing awareness and appreciation of our environment." Our evening will be made even more wonderful by being engulfed in their beautiful location right at sunset.
Thank you to our presenting sponsors, and thank you to each of you for your support of the JC Runyon Foundation! To learn more about Taste of Tuscany and buy tickets, please go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/238699656097

The JC Runyon Foundation provides scholarships to students who’s financial resources for college have been drained during their battle with mental health. The cost of an inpatient stay alone can be draining to college savings, but with the added cost of post-care, tuition can often feel like an impossible feat. The JC Runyon Foundation is committed to supporting these students in the journey until the very end (and after!) As we welcome them into the JCRF community of love, support, encouragement, and friendship. When you support the JC Runyon Foundation, you are changing lives.

The JC Runyon Foundation was started in the name of the beloved Dr. Jack “JC” Runyon, a brilliant man with a passion for helping people, especially young people facing the struggles of mental health.Everyone knows how easy it is to find obscure scholarships for everything under the sun, but what about mental health? Mental health battles were/are still stigmatized at this time especially in the world of academia. The JC Runyon Foundation was founded to fill this gap as well as honor the name of “JC” in the way closest to his heart. Today, the JC Runyon Foundation has granted over 57 scholarships to students across the country (20 in our home state of Tennessee). You can join the journey today. To become a sponsor, simply email us ([email protected]) or donate online at jcrunyonfoundation.org (link in bio for our instagram friends). Your support is changing lives. Thank you for being you.
Have I told you lately how beautiful you are? Today is a good day to remind yourself how beautiful, unique, powerful, strong, bold, gentle, passionate, and just great you are.Never forget it.
You matter, your mental health matters. Do you have new year’s resolutions? If you want to add one or need inspiration for the rest of the year, why not put your mental health as a priority.Mental health is just as important as physical health, if not hand-in-hand with it. Take care of yourself this year and remember to be kind - to yourself and others. The bravest thing you can do is ask for help.
Sponsors, we have our spring events in the works and are ready to bring you on to the team. To learn more about sponsorship benefits, please email us ([email protected]) today!

“This is what recovery looks like…5+ years clean and a pair of college degrees.” - Sammer Elkhateeb, JCRF Graduate.Sammer chose to start fresh when deciding to live his next chapter, and he has come so far. We are so happy to be a part of his amazing journey! And yes, you did read that correctly. TWO degrees! Way to go Sammer - we are so proud of you!
We are always reminded to be kind to others, but sometimes we need a reminder to be kind to ourselves. How will you be kind to yourself today?
Do you know the cost of stability? These numbers only include the cost of inpatient stays for certain treatments. The cost grows after treatment has been completed:
- Therapy Sessions
- Medication (often multiple types)
- Physical recovery needs
- Missed time in school or work
- Outpatient care
It is no surprise that medical bills for any illness, injury, or incident can become extremely costly in an instant, but mental health crises can be especially crippling for families. These costs often drain the financial resources saved for college leaving students wondering if the next step in their chapter is even reachable.
The JC Runyon Foundation recognizes this and steps in to make that next chapter possible. With help from donors like you, we are able to provide scholarships throughout a student's time in school, up to 16 semesters.
We are so proud of our scholars, and we need your help to keep the family growing.
You can support today and provide scholarships to mental health warriors at jcrunyonfoundation.org/support

We also believe in the power of the hard work a patient has endured to successfully complete high school and be admitted to college.
