City wants to give portion of park to soup kitchen City Council calls for special election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Section of Hidalgo Park is unimproved and unused.

Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry looking to grow On Aug. 13, Midland city leaders called a special election for voters to decide whether the city should convey 3.7 acres of unimproved Hidalgo Park lands to MSKM.

Today we celebrate! The City Council has voted to hold a special election for the transfer of a vacant portion of unused land in Hidalgo Park for us to expand our mission and reach to the community we love! As the City of Midland grows, so does the needs of our community members. We plan to grow to continue being here for our town.

NOW IT IS UP TO YOU THIS NOVEMBER, YOU will vote on NOVEMBER 5TH for us to be granted this land by the city FREE of charge! Great things are still in store for our ministry but we need YOUR vote to do it!

We want to thank the City of Midland, Mayor Lori Blong, Planning and Development Officer Elizabeth Triggs, and each member of the city council for getting us one step closer to our goals for our fast growing city! We look forward to November!

Tomorrow, the City Council will vote on whether to hold a special election for the transfer of a vacant portion of unused land in Hidalgo Park to Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry. The special election would be held on Nov. 5, the date of the 2024 general election!

City Council to vote on Costco, soup kitchen The city of Midland and Midland Development Corp. are looking to bring Costco to Midland, Texas. Costco could get large reimbursements and rebates if approved.

We have successfully finished another summer of nonstop feeding! We served a grand total of 9,027 plates of food to our patrons! That’s 3,447 more plates than last year! We are already counting down the days for next summer!

If you supported us in ANY WAY this summer, whether it be financially, volunteering, donating canned food items or just praying for us, YOU helped us provide for our community!

Feeding the hungry is just the beginning; we are here to change lives for the better! Yesterday the Midland Prodigy 8u Team suited up and visited us to serve over 120 hungry patrons their meal! Their outstanding coaches took the time to teach the team about giving back, and being thankful for blessings most of us over look!

Our annual Splish Splash bash is something extra we do for the children so they can have extra fun here at the Soup Kitchen before school begins! This year 150 locals spent their morning with us as we enjoyed a another great day!

The WATERSLIDES are in for TODAYS summer event in our parking lot! Our annual Splish Splash Bash will include watermelon, popsicles, special guests, and much more for the children of our community! This is a FREE event put on for EVERYONE! 💦☀️🩳🩱

This event for children will include a 17ft and 19ft Water Slides (MUST Bring Towels), a bouncy house, over 200 popsicles provided by Frios Permian Basin, Police Cruisers, Sheriffs Cruisers, pickles provided by HEB, watermelon, and much more with tables of free goodies!

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is a free event hosted by Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry for ANY all aged children of the community !

Each year we are proud to host and have the support of our local law enforcement for MPD Day! Yesterday, members of Midland Police Department served their community in a special way! This annual event brought in over 130 adults and children to be served by a local officer, take pictures, and ask questions- all while getting to know our outstanding men and women behind the badge!

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Tootsie” Meredith R Blaylock, our papa. This is definitely one of the hardest posts for us to make as tootsie had been coming through our doors for many years! No matter what kind of a day you were having, tootsie could make it better anytime & any day! Although he will be missed tremendously, we know he was ready for Heaven to be with our Lord & Savior! We send our deepest condolences & prayers to his family and friends.

Ten years have passed since the loss of our Founder, (My Dad) Mariano Rendon Sr, yet his legacy lives on through the continued efforts of the Midland Soup Kitchen Ministry. We honor his memory by continuing to serve the community he loved, just as he did with my mother by starting the first Soup Kitchen not only in Midland, but the Permian Basin. Although they barely had enough for themselves, they still managed to give everything they had to the ones in need.

We love you, we miss you tremendously!💙

Thursday serving over 180 plates of food to every patron that came in! We appreciate the support not only from our community, but from local retailer stores in the Permian Basin who love to give back to their community! H-E-B

Yesterday a group from First Presbyterian Church took a little field trip to serve over 130 hungry patrons here at the Soup Kitchen! Each child had such a willingness to serve in our dining area, thank you for showing The Love of God to our patrons through your selfless service!💙

We want to thank H-E-B for not only volunteering with us, but taking care of ALL the children who have been attending our Vacation Bible School!
H-E-B provided new shoes, new clothes, and awesome goodie bags filled with fun items for a little over 50 children! Thank you HEB!
