Our AFGE siblings at Bureau of Prisons have a small ask: please follow this link and write to your Congressional Reps regarding inadequate pay for the Bargaining Unit employees in this agency. It's very easy, takes 5 minutes, AND DO IT OFF THE CLOCK!! (After work, before work, on lunch.)

🇺🇸 What a busy day for AFGE District 8! Today, our dedicated team from AFGE locals 1969 and 3669 had the honor of hosting Congresswoman Angie Craig at the Minneapolis VA. We gave her a firsthand look at the fantastic work our members are doing and shared some of the concerns they face. 🏥
Afterwards, our hardworking members had a chance to visit with Senator Amy Klobuchar, discussing not only the vital issues affecting our veterans and healthcare, but also the pressing matters impacting federal employees. 🤝 Together, we’re committed to ensuring our veterans receive the best care possible and supporting federal employees in their vital roles. 🙌 Minneapolis VA Health Care System AFGE District 8 AFGE Local 1969
Message from District 8 NVP Ruark Hotopp
Do you or anyone in your family receive healthcare at the VA, receive Social Security, serve in the military, or live paycheck to paycheck? If so, AFGE is not only asking our members but all individuals to get involved with the looming government shutdown 2023. A shutdown will lead to these services and payments being halted. Most Government Employees are required to show up and perform their duties without pay until funding is approved by our Congressional Leaders. During the last Shutdown employees went 5 weeks without pay. If this was your situation wouldn't you want others to take a stand in solidarity for you?
AFGE has created Patch thru phone tree that connects you to your Congressional Leaders based on the area code you are calling from. After placing the call you will receive a text with a link to send letters to your Congressional Leaders too. This only takes a few minutes. The workers of America need you to contact your Congressional Leaders and remind them that they are elected to "do their job and fund the government".
AFGE patch thru line: (855) 222-9093
Please make the call and submit letters.
