One Yoga Book Club is starting up again in June with our second book for discussion: "Healing Justice Lineages" by Cara Page and Erica Woodland. The book club is led by James Orione and our next meeting will be Monday, June 24 at 7:30pm at Brackett Park.

Our book club, Seeds of Justice, is designed to be a safe and inclusive space for exploring themes related to racial and social justice through the lens of yoga and mindfulness practices. Our intention is to foster meaningful conversations, inspire self-reflection, and collectively move toward a more just and compassionate world that is not for justice but rooted in justice. This offering will be held monthly on the last Monday of every month at 7:30pm.

Expect book discussion, mindful practices, and community connection. We believe in the transformative power of yoga, not only as a physical practice, but as one that has the power to transform us individually so we can minimize the harm we cause and contribute positively to the world around us. This is Ahimsa, non-violence.

This workshop will take place outdoors at Brackett Park in the green space adjacent to S 39th Ave, just north of the Brackett Rec Center.

This workshop is offered in the spirit of dana, or generosity. Donations are welcome.

What is Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)? Explained by its co-founders, Jenn Turner and Dave Emerson 06/04/2024

What is Trauma Sensitive Yoga?

The TCTSY - Trauma Sensitive Yoga methodology is based on central components of the hatha style of yoga, where participants engage in a series of physical forms and movements. Elements of standard hatha yoga are modified to maximize experiences of empowerment and to cultivate a more positive relationship to one's body.

Unlike many public yoga classes, TCTSY does not use physical hands-on adjustments to influence a participant's physical form. Rather, TCTSY presents opportunities for participants to be in charge of themselves based on a felt sense of their own body.
