New hope church Rd, near Garrett Rd is shut down, due to a 3 vehicle accident with injuries

New Hope Church Rd near St Martin Way is down to one lane, due to low hanging cable lines.

Currently Deputies and fire personnel are responding to multiple calls for trees and power lines down.
If you decide to travel, exercise caution as debris is all over the roads and traffic lights are either out or flashing red at a lot of locations.

This power pole is down on Waverly Way in Green Acres off Hwy 11. Understandably there are multiple trees and power lines down across the county. Use caution when driving especially around areas where visibility is low or you are unfamiliar with. First responders are responding to the known locations so let’s work together and not create more emergencies. Thank you.

Seems ATT is experiencing outages that might affect being able to reach 911.

Walton County Public Safety responded to a report of a plane crash in the area of Mt Paran and Social Circle FairPlay Road. A small single engine plane conducting training on a private strip crash landed off the runway. All plane occupants were okay. The incident is still under investigation

A very special thanks to the citizens of Woodlake Subdivision for their support and generosity a couple of nights ago. . As with Jefferson Plantation, we were overwhelmed with the outpouring of gratitude and support from everyone that came out to thank the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department for their service to a grateful community.
It is inspiring to receive cards and notes from the kids that participated and the accompanying snacks didn’t hurt!

3 car traffic accident highway 81 and Karlee blvd.

Hwy 81 at Green Cir is completely closed north and southbound due to a low hanging wire. Walton EMC is on scene projecting it to take 30 minutes or less to correct.
Find an alternate route.

Centerhill Church/Youth Monroe Rd and Hwy 81

Expect delays due to vehicle accident resulting in overturned vehicle.

Single vehicle crash Hwy 78 westbound near the Oconee County line. One lane shut down.
Use caution traveling past the scene.

FIND ANOTHER ROUTE

Expect major delays on Hwy 81 & Shannon Rd until a tractor trailer that has bottomed out can be removed from the intersection.

Debbie Atkinson has officially retired after 20 years with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Her 1st 3 years were from 1991-1994 where she worked as a secretary and then in dispatch. After a short break, she returned back to us in 2006 to start working shifts in the jail. She later began working Inmate Services and lastly headed up Walton County’s S*x Offender Registry making her responsible for ensuring the offenders in our county adhered to registry regulations. Debbie’s dedication, knowledge and performance of duties were an example to all. She will be truly missed, but we wish her all the best in her retirement! Congratulations Debbie!

Women's Self-Defense Class | DBTB Deputies Beyond the Badge is hosting a free women's self-defense class taught by certified defensive tactics law enforcement instructors. The class will be held at the Sheriff's Office gun range training building, behind the Walton County Public Works building. Classes will be limited to....

Last evening, the WCSO detention staff presented the Carter family a gift in memory of their son, D.J Carter who recently was killed on his way to work at WCSO.

Avoid North Broad area in downtown Monroe near Walton Street. There is an emergency situation which has caused traffic to be diverted.

We are following up on the many, many leads that people have given us. So far, we have no answer. We will continue to search. Because of the wide spread area that this boom was heard, best guess is sonic boom but that’s just our guess.
In regards to the loud boom that was heard in the areas of walnut grove, social circle and good hope including Morgan and oconee county the WCSO is currently investigating the source of the boom.
