Norwood-Norfolk Central School District
K-12 Education
Our seniors gathered early this morning in the parking lot to watch the sunrise and celebrate their last first day of school!
A busy day today for our faculty & staff. We can't wait for Thursday!
Seniors are invited to decorate an individual parking spot in the student parking area September 3 & 4, using CHALK only (no paint). Reach out to Ms. Sullivan if you have any questions, and don't forget to take pictures of your final product and share with Ms. Sullivan! Chalk will be available in the HS office or bring your own.
Please join us in welcoming our long-term substitute in elementary physical education, Cory Palmer.
Cory is a Potsdam native who lives right here in Norwood. He attended college at SUNY Canton and chose to work in education to help teach and mentor kids, knowing that they will have an impact on the communities they live in.
In his free time, Cory enjoys coin collecting and playing pickleball. He says, "Norwood-Norfolk is a great school with a great community. My father and two of my uncles graduated from NNCS, as did my son Aidan. My grandmother, Blanche Palmer, was the high school secretary for many years and I am proud to be able to carry on the tradition of working at NNCS."
Welcome, Cory!
Please join us in welcoming Michelle Converse, our new instructional aide, to our Flyer community!
Michelle is from Massena, NY and chose to work in education because she loves kids! She enjoys birdwatching in her free time and says that cardinals are her favorite bird.
Welcome, Michelle! We're so glad to have you!
Please join us as we welcome Mr. Dave Steele, our new Health teacher!
Dave is a Norwood native and studied at both Brockport and St. Lawrence University. He chose to work in education because he had positive teachers and coaches that served as his role models. They inspired him to pursue a career in education, and in turn influenced him to make a positive impact in the lives of his students.
In his free time, Dave enjoys all sports and loves to hike, cycle and ski. He decided to join our Flyer community because he grew up as a Flyer and enjoys giving back to his community.
Welcome back, Dave!
Tomorrow night is our 9th Grade and CREATE Orientation!! We hope to see you here starting at 6pm in our Auditorium!! Meet your teachers, pick up schedules, and enjoy free pizza to finish out the night!!
Please join us as we welcome Maisie Voss, our new 1st grade teacher, back into our school!
Maisie is a Norwood native and says that as an NNCS student, admin and teachers nurtured both her education and her well-being. She said, "I wanted to be part of a community that feels like family. NNCS is a family - Once a Flyer, always a Flyer!"
Maisie attended SUNY Plattsburgh and chose to work in an educational setting because she loves seeing the way every student is different int he way that they learn. She says she knows that as much as she will be teaching, she knows her students will be the ones teaching her.
In her free time, Maisie enjoys reading and doing puzzles. Welcome, Maisie! We're so glad to have you back!
Please join us in welcoming Miss Madi Bernhardt, our new High School Spanish Teacher. Miss Bernhardt is from Clayton, NY and attended college at SUNY Oswego.
Miss Berhardt says, "When I began my college career, I realized that I not only loved Spanish and wanted to continue learning it, but that I also really wanted to work with adolescents to bring them the same sense of joy and passion that I feel for learning. I wanted to be a positive role model for students and to positively affect the lives of students just as my own teachers have. "
Miss Bernhardt's favorite hobby is travelling - especially to warm places! She wanted to became a Flyer because she loved the sense of community at NNCS. "I could immediately picture myself working with all of the faculty and administration that I met. I felt that I could connect with the student body as a one Nothern New York student myself!"
Welcome, Madi! We are happy to have you!
Join us as we welcome our new Middle School AIS Math Teacher, Becky Holmes!
Becky is a Lawtons, NY native and attended college at SUNY Potsdam. She says that she has always wanted to be a teacher because she loves working with others to help them become the best version of themselves. "Sharing my knowledge and ideas and creating a safe space for students to grow into who they want to be is something I am greatly looking forward to," Becky said.
Becky said that she, too went to a small school growing up and is excited to be a part of another close-knit school community.
In her free time, Becky enjoys spending time with family, playing sports, watching football (Go, Bills!) and she loves Disney!
Welcome, Becky!

Join us as we welcome Brice Panetta, our new cleaner!
Brice is from Chazy, NY and joined the NNCS community because he has family that work in the school district, and it seems like a good community to be a part of.
In his free time, Brice enjoys driving around in his jeep, and spending time with his sister and his girlfriend.
Welcome, Brice!
Please join us as we welcome Mr. John Picaro, our new 8th grade ELA teacher.
John is from Malone and attended college at both SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Potsdam. He decided to work in an educational setting because he fell in love with the English classroom in high school and pursued the same path as an undergrad. John said, "I enjoy literature circles and being a part of a class discussion, which lead me to the idea of being a teacher. I also love being the center of attention, so that was always there as well (🤗)."
John said becoming a Flyer is appealing because NNCS Flyers were always respectful when he competed against them in school. Mr. Picaro says that he enjoys rollerblading in his free time, and is a team player and that primarily means that he will advocate for everyone single person around him.
Welcome, John!
