Hispanic Heritage Month begins today and ends on October 15. Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua celebrate their independence today. These countries
were part of the Central American Federation, which declared independence from Spainon September 15, 1821.
HHM celebrates the histories and cultures of American citizens whose ancestors came from Central, South America, Mexico, Spain and the Carribean. This year’s theme for HHM is Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future together. MS51 will celebrate with our Hispanic families all month long.

Last Tuesday evening, Omari S. (class of 23') represented both Middle School 51 & Ms. Flatow's Photography class at the exhibition "Viewpoints, Stories, and Connections" in partnership with both Arts Connection Kekst CNC in Manhattan.
Omari was 1 of just 12 students selected for this exhibit out of more than 200 submissions. Despite being on sabbatical, Ms. Flatow was so excited to be reunited with her former student in recognition of his achievement in visual arts! 📷🏆👏
