Are you struggling to know how to navigate hard conversations with your colleagues or supervisors? Having these hard conversations at work matters because they are opportunities to ease painful and costly conflicts as well as opportunities to learn about ourselves and one another. In this workshop, you will go through the common barriers that you may face when having hard conversations.

Each year, NYU Service hosts a campus-wide Service and Volunteer Fair to connect students with local non-profits and community based organizations. All agencies attending the fair will have positions available for student interns or volunteers. A diverse range of organizations will be present, representing a wide variety of areas including education inequality, environmental sustainability, immigration, elder care, homelessness and poverty, prison reform, and youth mentoring. While rest may seem counter-culture in the city that never sleeps, it is an essential characteristic of effective leadership. Leadership Academy is bringing artist-activist Sydnie L. Mosley to learn more what dance and art have to teach us about embodiment beyond just self-care.

This workshop, a collaboration between the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) and NYU Leadership Academy, will be held in the CMEP Lounge (Kimmel 804) on February 2nd from 2:00pm -3:30pm EST. 🎧 As podcasts have grown in popularity, more people are using them to help inspire social change. Listening to audio is more human, relatable, and convenient and allows you to go in depth on the issues you care about, getting your listeners to understand the nuances of the cause.
Led by an experienced podcaster, Aarna Dixit from Good S*x @ NYU and Dirty Talk, this workshop will explore the strengths and weaknesses of podcasting for social change for you to find out if podcasts are the right platform for your cause. 💜 This workshop takes place Thursday, December 1 from 3:00-4:00 pm in Kimmel 703. This year’s conference is fully virtual and features a week-long Exploration Series (February 22th-24th) that leads up to a full-day Conference Summit (February 25th). What are ethics? Are you an ethical person? How do you measure ethics? These questions are seemingly impossible to answer, but the Trolley Problem provides valuable insight to them all. As one of the most famous thought experiments that combine ethics and psychology, the Trolley Problem describes a series of scenarios in which you must decide if it is worth sacrificing one person to save a group of people.

Today is International Pronouns Day.
We share our pronouns with others and ask them to do the same so that we do not assume how people want to be referred to in the third person, thus avoiding instances of misgendering.
By respecting others’ pronouns, you recognize their sense of self and affirm the humanity of all members of our community. Using an individual’s pronouns correctly is a way to continue to practice inclusion and foster belonging at NYU.
NYU's LGBTQ+ Center has many resources for students and more information on why pronouns are important.
The Leadership Academy at the Center for Student Life is hosting Coalition Building on October 19 from 12-1:30 pm on Zoom.
Coalition Building is a workshop, where you will utilize an asset-based framework to explore the process of designing and managing coalitions to enhance community building.
