Are you struggling to know how to navigate hard conversations with your colleagues or supervisors? Having these hard conversations at work matters because they are opportunities to ease painful and costly conflicts as well as opportunities to learn about ourselves and one another. In this workshop, you will go through the common barriers that you may face when having hard conversations.

The NYU Service and Volunteer Fair is happening Wednesday, February 15 from 11am-4pm at Kimmel E&L. 🎉🌿

Each year, NYU Service hosts a campus-wide Service and Volunteer Fair to connect students with local non-profits and community based organizations. All agencies attending the fair will have positions available for student interns or volunteers. A diverse range of organizations will be present, representing a wide variety of areas including education inequality, environmental sustainability, immigration, elder care, homelessness and poverty, prison reform, and youth mentoring. Join us as we hear from astrologer, Aliza Kelly, and explore our own unique strengths, abilities, hidden talents, and innate superpowers. This workshop takes place on Wednesday, February 15 from 4-5 pm on Zoom.

Have you ever wondered how leaders balance productivity and rest for those on their team? While rest may seem counter-culture in the city that never sleeps, it is an essential characteristic of effective leadership. Leadership Academy is bringing artist-activist Sydnie L. Mosley to learn more what dance and art have to teach us about embodiment beyond just self-care.

This workshop takes place on February 8th from 2:00pm -3:30pm.

Looking for ways to manage challenging conversations with your peers? “Building Belonging: Co-constructing a Community of Accountability” will help you understand the concepts of belonging and inclusion, among others, and gives you tools to navigate challenging conversations with your peers in and outside of the classroom. This workshop, a collaboration between the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) and NYU Leadership Academy, will be held in the CMEP Lounge (Kimmel 804) on February 2nd from 2:00pm -3:30pm EST. 🎧 As podcasts have grown in popularity, more people are using them to help inspire social change. Listening to audio is more human, relatable, and convenient and allows you to go in depth on the issues you care about, getting your listeners to understand the nuances of the cause.

Led by an experienced podcaster, Aarna Dixit from Good S*x @ NYU and Dirty Talk, this workshop will explore the strengths and weaknesses of podcasting for social change for you to find out if podcasts are the right platform for your cause. 💜 This workshop takes place Thursday, December 1 from 3:00-4:00 pm in Kimmel 703. Michaelangelo has been at CSL for about 4 months and says one reason he enjoys working at CSL is because, "Service, civic engagement, and leadership development opportunities provide students with really unique ways of finding themselves and I feel lucky to play a part in that for them. Assessment work is incredibly important to show the effectiveness of our work so we can keep doing it. Basically, I love my job and feel lucky to have it!"

International Education Week (IEW) at NYU is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse perspectives of cultures that international education and exchange worldwide bring to our community. Through performances, lectures, films, displays, and workshops highlighting opportunities both in the US and abroad, IEW is celebrated to increase our community's cross-cultural awareness, curiosity, and knowledge. IEW 2022 takes place November 14-18.

Join the Leadership Academy for a fireside chat with local politician and Drag Queen, Marti Cummings, for a discussion on transformational leadership, challenging the status quo, and the importance of leadership in politics following the Midterm Elections. NYU Program Board is hosting an hour-long writer’s workshop and Q&A with Hypebeast contributors Kirsten Chen and Nate Louis. This event is being put on by the Lecture Committee and takes place on February 24 at 7 pm on Zoom.

You’re invited to the 11th Annual USWIB (Undergraduate Stern Women In Business) Conference: Own the Light! This year’s conference is fully virtual and features a week-long Exploration Series (February 22th-24th) that leads up to a full-day Conference Summit (February 25th). The Conference Summit day will be held from 9:00 AM - 3:15 PM EST.

The conference features panels, personal and professional development workshops, networking, industry spotlights, and more. The Conference Registration is open and will close on February 7th. What are ethics? Are you an ethical person? How do you measure ethics? These questions are seemingly impossible to answer, but the Trolley Problem provides valuable insight to them all. As one of the most famous thought experiments that combine ethics and psychology, the Trolley Problem describes a series of scenarios in which you must decide if it is worth sacrificing one person to save a group of people.

This event takes place on Thursday, October 28 from 6-7 pm on Zoom and you must register to attend.

Today is International Pronouns Day.

We share our pronouns with others and ask them to do the same so that we do not assume how people want to be referred to in the third person, thus avoiding instances of misgendering.

By respecting others’ pronouns, you recognize their sense of self and affirm the humanity of all members of our community. Using an individual’s pronouns correctly is a way to continue to practice inclusion and foster belonging at NYU.

NYU's LGBTQ+ Center has many resources for students and more information on why pronouns are important.

The Leadership Academy at the Center for Student Life is hosting Coalition Building on October 19 from 12-1:30 pm on Zoom.

Coalition Building is a workshop, where you will utilize an asset-based framework to explore the process of designing and managing coalitions to enhance community building.

Participants will turn ideas into future actions that aid in the creation and coordination of sustainable coalitions.
