Launch Walkout to End Gun Violence On Wednesday, Launch hosted our 9th annual Walkout to End Gun Violence in collaboration with our long standing partner, Save Our Streets Brooklyn.

📢 Yesterday, over 100 middle school students from Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, participated in a powerful walkout to protest gun violence. This isn’t just any walkout—it’s a movement our school is proud to support in partnership with . 💪❤️

Our students have been deeply engaged in studying the impacts of gun violence over recent months. Through their studies, they’ve explored this critical issue from multiple angles:

📚 In Language Arts, they read the young-adult novels about Gun Violence
📊 In Math, they analyzed gun violence statistics
🔬 In Science, they investigated whether gun violence can be classified as an epidemic

“The essential question was, ‘Is gun violence considered a health crisis in the U.S.?’” said Janeé Wright, our dedicated science teacher. Our students examined historical outbreaks like the coronavirus and the influenza pandemic of 1918-1920, learning how epidemiologists classify these occurrences and applying this knowledge to understand gun violence.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their commitment to learning and their courage to stand up for change. Thank you to everyone who joined us and supported this vital cause.

Our community design team has been working all year to craft these designs, and we’re finally ready to share with our entire community! 🍔🌭Free food! And childcare will be provided. See you there!!
