Principal Keri Alfano Truman High School is one of the last large high schools left in the Bronx that has not been broken up into a campus of smaller schools.
Former Principal Sana Q Nasser has won awards for rebuilding the school into one with a "small-school feel, and higher graduation rates" (NY Post, Sept 2011). Wednesday our art students hosted their annual show. Students displayed beautiful artwork, while we enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres from our culinary program and live music from the jazz band.
Adventure packed camping weekend at North South Lake! Our students learned camping essentials, hiked to Kaaterskill Falls and even canoed and kayaked on South Lake!

Today we celebrated CULTURE DAY! Students grabbed their "passports" and explored the food, clothing, music, dance and traditions of many nations represented by our Truman Family.
We celebrated our Spring Extravaganza Concert with TWO shows on May 31st! Fantastic work by all of the singers, dancers, musicians & spoken-word artists. video & photo albums will be sent to your school email.
Another successful Tennis Clinic with Pro Bryan Griffin! Truman students partnered with NYJTL for drills & doubles. Learning from a pro & being role models made it an unforgettable experience!
The Truman track team has had a phenomenal Spring bringing home many awards and first place finishes. The girls won the Bronx Borough Outdoor Championships while the boys came in second by two points for the Borough Championships. The boys then ran to come in second place at the city championships! Nicholos Sealey won the open 400 and 400 Hurdles which qualified him to run in Syracuse next week at the NYS Championships! Fidelis Osunkwo won the open 800 also allowing him to compete at the NYS Championship as well. The 4x4 boys relay won the city title which consisted of Nicholos Sealey, Fidelis Osunkwo, Davell Roswell, and Ziyon Nichols and will compete at the NYS Championships. Adonijah Washington will be competing at the NYS Championships in the 100 Hurdles! This team has had one of their best seasons and are hoping to bring home some state titles next weekend!
THURSDAY 6pm our Spring Concert Extravaganza takes the stage. FREE to all, but students attending the NIGHT performance MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by an adult. Doors at 5:15, and entry closes at 6:45. See you there!
Students took on the staff in our annual student-staff volleyball tournament. The staff managed to eke out a win, two games to one. Great effort by all, and great fun!
In what was one of their toughest tests yet, these girls came together and showed what it means to be a team. On Wednesday night, they became PSAL Dual Meet Champions and carried on the legacy of the teams before them.
In a hard fought match, the Girls Mustang Wrestling Team defeated the Curtis High School team by a score of 28-26. Extending their run to 6 Dual Meet Championships in a row.
Congratulations to the Mustangs and the girls of the Curtis High School team on a great season.
Our School-Based Health Clinic will be OPEN during the summer session this year with staff on site from the week of Wednesday, July 10th until Tuesday, August 20th.
During this time, we encourage students to access all of our comprehensive services, including medical and mental health services. If students from your building are not attending summer school but would like to access our clinic to receive services, we can set up an appointment with them.
It is almost time for our annual Truman Family Day! This includes bouncy houses/games, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, arts and crafts, tie dye, slime making, and of course food!
We are hoping everyone can bring their family and join us for a fun-filled afternoon. It will take place on Saturday, June 8th, 11am-3pm. More information can be found on the flyer attached.

On Friday, Truman Media Students participated in the NJ High School Film Challenge Workshops and Awards. Our entry into the contest was screened as one of the top 20 of over 80 films submitted! Congratulations!
