Latina Equal Pay Day almost didn’t happen in 2022. Here’s why. 12/08/2022

Latina Equal Payday is today. Latinas are still miles behind the rest of the work force when it comes to equal pay. It has not improved in any significant way since the numbers have been reported. This year, the date is much later (it was October 21 last year) and almost did not happen this year. We continue to work to change this.

Latina Equal Pay Day almost didn’t happen in 2022. Here’s why. Today is Latina Equal Pay Day. Find out what this civil rights attorney and activist says we need to do in order to close the wage gap for Latina workers in our country.

Pay Transparency 11/01/2022

New York City's pay transparency law takes effect today. It applies to any business with 4 or more employees. Along with New York State's ban on requests for salary history from prospective employees this is another critical step to make employers accountable for wage disparities based on race, gender and other protected categories. It is a welcome protection, especially for many women. We cannot ignore wage disparity and gender pay gaps any longer. This year, equal pay day for Black women just passed on September 21. They get paid 67 cents for every 1 dollar a white male makes. Latinas won't make equal pay this year until December 8 because they only get paid 58 cents for every 1 dollar a white male makes. Everyone should be paid equally for what they earn!

Pay Transparency Effective November 1, 2022, the NYC Human Rights Law requires employers to include a good faith pay range in all job advertisements. NYC's Salary Transparency Law is another step towards pay equity for all New Yorkers, and is the latest addition to a suite of protections against discrimination for N...

Wow, I made the list of nominees. Charlotte has been very good to me since I expanded my practice to North Carolina and it is an honor just to be nominated!

Today, we introduce you to a very special group of Charlotte residents — the nominees for the third-annual Charlotte Ledger 40 Over 40 awards, presented by U.S. Bank. Our independent panel of 15 responsible under-40 judges are working hard to select the 40 winners, but we want to share *all* of the nominees for the awards to recognize all of the hard work going on to make Charlotte a better place.

Once the winners are selected, they will be recognized in a special edition of The Ledger, and we will honor them on April 28 at a fun 1980s-themed party, with food, drinks, music and some surprises. To learn more about the 40 Over 40 Awards and event, go to Ledger40Over40.com.

Happy Valentine's Day!! Let's all take some time today to recommit to loving one another, always acting with kindness, opening ourselves to be empathetic, treating others with compassion and tolerance regardless of our personal perspectives and opinions and caring for each other, every single day. Love is the one thing that will keep us from destroying one another and our planet. Commit to embracing difference as an opportunity to broaden your own perspective and always act with love.
