At Spoons Across America, there are no “bad foods”. We want children to try EVERYTHING.
The first step is understanding the elements of taste. This helps children accurately communicate why they like/dislike certain foods. The next step is combining elements of taste to turn a yuk! into a yum!
Do you often hear "I don't like that" or "YUK" from children when you serve them food? It can be daunting for kids to try new things, especially when it comes to taste. That's where Spoons Across America comes in! Our Elements of Taste portion of our programs helps students understand the reasons they may dislike certain foods and how different combinations and preparations can enhance flavors. This knowledge opens their minds to healthier options.
FEED was founded in 2007 by Lauren Bush Lauren, this year's honoree of the Individual Award for Excellence. The goal: ending childhood hunger. The company's mission is to create environmentally mindful Bags that help feed the world.
One of the ways FEED raises funds is through the sale of bags and other accessories. Each product is stamped with a number that represents the number of meals that will be provided to a child in need. This transparency and accountability is what sets FEED apart from other competitors.
FEED's impact has been significant, with over 127 million meals provided to date. Lauren Bush Lauren's dedication to this cause is inspiring and serves as a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference in the world.
Last week, at our 7th Annual Spring Benefit, we had the pleasure of honoring Ahimsa, and it's founder and CEO,
Dr. Mantravadi's vision of creating safe and healthy mealtime experiences for families is truly inspiring. Ahimsa's stainless steel dishes are not only eco-friendly, but also designed to be durable, practical and easy to clean.
We are grateful for Dr. Mantravadi's dedication to promoting safe and healthy mealtime habits, and for Ahimsa's efforts in making sustainable and eco-friendly products. We look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the future.

Thanks to your unwavering efforts to promote healthy eating habits among children, we are proud to host a one-day fair where kids can discover the importance of various food groups, food sourcing, nutrition, and overall wellbeing in afterschool programs and communities.
