What is causing that unsightly bulge on the outer part of the eyelids? Swipe ⬅️ to see the view from the inside during surgery. That pink structure is the lacrimal gland or tear gland where your tears are produced💧Sometimes the gland can become enlarged or move forward or downward from where it’s supposed to be located. When the gland moves out of position, we see it as a bulge in the outer part of the upper eyelid. Who has put tape on their eyelid before 🙋‍♀️ We often hear of patients putting tape on their eyelids to lift them up to see better or to create an upper eyelid crease or “double eyelid”. This poor gentleman used tape to pull his lower eyelid down so that his eyelashes would not poke him in the eye. Unfortunately, tape is not a great long term solution and can cause skin irritation. I performed an entropion surgery to turn his lower eyelid back out to its normal position so that the eyelashes would no longer bother him. So stop using tape and come see us to discuss more long term treatment options for your eyelids!

Do your upper eyelids look sunken or hollow? Having fullness or volume of your upper eyelids is often a sign of youth. You can be left with hollowness of your upper eyelids either with aging or from prior aggressive blepharoplasty, like in our patient here. Do you have a pesky bump on your eyelid? Chalazia are very common and fortunately, not usually dangerous. Most chalazia go down by themselves with time and warm compresses can help them along.
