10-miler in the books!
Some of the squad and I are training for a 1/2 marathon and this 10 mile race was an opportunity to see how our training is progressing.
It was right on time because I haven’t run hard for anything longer than 5k in many years, minus a 6 mile time trial in 2020.
I was a little anxious going out, not really sure what kind of pace I could hold for that distance.
The number 1 goal was to run the back 5 faster than the front 5.
I started pretty comfortable in my effort. I had some strong runners around me and felt good settling in with them early on.
The weather was awesome. The course was beautiful. I was feeling strong!
I turned to my neighbor and said “we couldn’t have asked for a better day!”
“Can’t really talk right now” he responded.
He was grinding. I took inventory of the others around me and they were all also working harder than me.
It was time to join the party and start suffering a little, so I picked up the pace.
I was still feeling strong at the higher effort, but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to hit my goal of running the second half faster.
I’m out here to see what I can do, so let’s find out! I kept pressing. My first 5 came in at 36:08 and my second at 34:49!
Hit my goal and finished with a time that feels good! 1:10:57 12th overall, 2nd in my age group.
This pic was taken somewhere in the last 2 miles, I think 😵💫
A few weeks until the half! Let’s go!! 💪

The Noland Trail Ultra Marathon Relay, with the boys!!
This is my and many others favorite race of the year! 6 laps around the Noland Trail between your team, or solo if you’ve got it, followed by a full on beer fest and Fall Festival.

Next up is Norfolk Harbor 5k. Let’s gooooo!! 🤘
In 2017 I realized that I had no connection to my feet.
My arches were collapsed, I couldn’t spread my toes, my big toe was weak and uncoordinated, and I was suffering from regular ankle sprains on any kind of challenging terrain.
I decided to make a change. To rethink the role of my feet and shoes in movement and fitness. To mobilize and strengthen my feet. To reconnect with my base!
Fast forward to this weekend, I led the first live barefoot movement workshop with in LA. 🔥
It was an incredible experience to share my passion with some highly influential trainers and coaches, a few who I have been following and learning from for years!
To put a cherry on top of all that, and I were able to get out for a trail run with breathtaking views (either the views or Nick’s pace 😅), in Topanga State Park.
Pretty epic weekend! 🦶
My mission has always been to improve my own fitness and longevity. To set goals and to use competition and continuing education to keep me charged up as I work towards them.
I am thankful that my consistency has lead to the opportunity to share the things that I have learned with you all, and hope that you can find the same fulfillment in reaching for goals that I have.
Let’s goo!!! 🖖
