Leah will be subbing the this week’s Tuesday and Thursday evening classes, 5:30-6:45.
Leah (she/her) has been practicing vinyasa yoga since 2001 and instructing since 2015. She initially took up yoga to supplement her training in ballet and modern dance. The attention to alignment, breath, and building strength and flexibility was great cross training and injury prevention. Over the years Leah has deepened her practice beyond just a physical expression - using yoga to work through life’s ups and downs, manage anxiety, and prepare for and rehabilitate from the birth of her three children. She has found a passion in teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga, which she began in 2015 while pregnant with her first kiddo. Leah loves nourishing bodies and spirits during and after pregnancy. She initially trained in yoga instruction with Barefoot Movement, has a personal training and nutrition certification with an emphasis in pre and post natal fitness, and has taken several courses specifically focused on pelvic floor health. Leah’s classes incorporate strength training, flexibility, relaxation to help nurture a person through the process of pregnancy, birth and the postpartum transition to parenthood.
Thank you Leah!
Do I need a doula if I’m having a c-section? Yes!
Can I get a doula if I’m having a hospital birth? Yes!
Will a doula take my husbands job? Nope!
Is a doula really worth it? Yes!
Let’s talk about the different types of doulas:
Birth Doulas- they are going to educate you prenatally on comfort measures, help you informed choices, support you during labor & provide comfort measures.
Postpartum Doulas: work with you during your postpartum period. They may focus on nutrition, some help with lactation, herbs or other postpartum needs. They also assist with light household chores.
Abortion doulas, death doulas, full spectrum doulas & more.
Some of my favorite ATL doulas:

Yin Yoga class tonight, 7-8:30 pm. Yin Yoga focuses on the deep tissues in the body, the ligaments, joints, bones, deep fascia - all within a meditative practice of long holds of the poses that are largely seated or lying. This style of practice offers you the opportunity to go deep, to quiet the chatter and clamor in your mind, to open energetic channels throughout the body following in its roots from TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) meridian pathways wisdom and the yogic system of the nadi energetic Chanel’s, namely the shushumna nadi along which the chakra reside. Taoist philosophy of opposing and complementary energies also informs this practice, and within a world of Yang energy run amuck, here in this practice, you can get clarity. Class meets weekly and is counter indicative for pregnant people. Sign up link is in my story or head to my website or Momence booking page.

Our Story
I teach in the Vinyasa Flow Style, which is rooted in the Ashtanga (8-limbed) Yoga philosophy, made popular by Patabhi Jois, passed down to him by Patanjali. Unlike Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow is not a set system; it does not operate within a certain set sequence of poses but instead, allows for some creativity on the teacher's part to devise sequences of poses that fluctuate, depending on the needs and abilities of the students, the time of day, year, weather, etc. Some focuses of Vinyasa Flow Yoga is to transition fluidly from one pose to another, with the breath, for a full, body opening and unveiling, ever-mindful of proper alignment in the transitions and within the poses themselves to aid the release of the blockages of prana (energy in the body), specifically in the nadis (channels where energy flows). Core engagement is important for the body's stability and safety, and some aspects of instruction, concerning the body's subtle energies, from a non-Western perspective, including doshas, bandhas, nadis, chakras, are often incorporated into a Vinyasa Flow class. I move students through sequences of poses that are designed to help deepen the connection with the body, to still the mind, aiding in the balancing of the mind and spirit. In a Yoga class with me, students are physically challenged while also feeling a sense of being nurtured, safe and supported, which encourages the connection between body and mind, self and universe.
