🤩 We had an amazing first day of our My Body My Power Week-Long Camp for Teens!
🫶 Today was Self-Expression Day and we enjoyed a lovely day expressing through movement, words, art, kindness and writing.
COMMUNITY EDUCATORS: Starr Smythe and Carmen Davis
🔺Morning Movement with Starr Smythe: Starr will lead camp participants through a yoga and mindfulness practice. The focal point of this practice will be allowing mindful movement and meditation to be a tool for activating our self-expression.
🔺Afternoon Guest Speaker with Carmen Davis: Soul Collage™ uses Collage as an insight into oneself. This process opens doors of self-acceptance, self-acknowledgment, and hidden motivations. Learn to use collage to bring out your inner beauty.
🙌 Feedback and Reflections:
• I loved the yoga stretches.
• It was so great to make new friends.

• I like how free flowing the day felt.
• This camp helped me answer questions I didn’t know I had.
• Today helped me to understand more of what’s going on inside me.
• The yoga was very relaxing.
• I liked how safe and welcomed I felt.

We facilitate them into a deeper exploration of who they are on the inside, who they show to the world, and how they can minimize the gap between the two. These ideas are then translated into creating healthy, loving relationships with others that joyfully nurture who they are.

🔹Aug 13: Self-Empowerment Day:
Nancy Hull: I am a 7th Degree Black Belt in Taekwon Do, having taught classes in traditional Taekwon Do and self-defense for over 30 years. Our Self-Empowerment class will include discussions about awareness, power, safety, and hands-on basic self-defense techniques.

🔹Aug 14: Self-Care Day:
Sally Anvari: Dance can be a way to care for our miraculous and creative bodies. Campers will play with the dance idea of PLACWE while connecting with others and finding flow and joy in movement.

We will learn how to create a deeper relationship with ourselves through nature by observing, touching, smelling, and test-tasting plants and tapping into our intuition. 🌲 Day 3 of our KIDS YOGA ADVENTURE Camp was amazing‼️
🙌 We were grateful it was only 84 degrees and didn’t need to take so many shade breaks.
🧘♂️ Rachel led more Forest Yoga and the kids really liked being Warriors in the Woods. 🌲
🩵 The theme of the day was “I Am Love” and in our Talking Circles the youth expressed the importance of self-love. They shared that if we love ourselves first then we can love our friends and family even better. Another expresses that when we focus on the good then that increases our gratitude and leads to more love. YES‼️
🫧 The day was filled with bubbles, art, ice breakers, name games, forest yoga, walks in the woods, organic snacks and lots of fun!
🫶 Feedback from Youth:
• I loved playing with bubbles!
• Sitting by the fountain was very relaxing.
• The best part of camp isplaying with my friends.
• Making the art project was really fun!
