The Deschutes Estuary Restoration Team (DERT) is organized for the restoration of the Deschutes River In 1951, the Deschutes River was dammed at its mouth.

Here is the basic schedule for the Festival of the Steh-Chass! August 17th will also feature workshops, science demonstrations, Native art and vendors, tshirts and hoodies for sale. At 5:30 pm the Healing of the Waters Ceremony will begin in the Steh-Chass at the dam with Medicine Creek Treaty Tribes! Please join us!!

Honored and excited to be at the press conference and hear from Chairman Peters of the Squaxin Island Tribe, Governor Jay Inslee, Deschutes Estuary Project Manager with DES Ann Larson, Representative Beth Doglio, Olympia Mayor Cheryl Selby, and WDFW Director Kelly Susewind!
Thank you to all of our state and regional leaders for sharing about all of the benefits benefits a restored estuary will offer, from flood mitigation to healthier water and salmon runs. We thank you and our children and grandchildren thank you!! Deepest gratitude from all of the human and more than human inhabitants of the South Salish Sea!!!
