As part of our Spring Exhibition Series, the Leatherby Libraries proudly welcomes Chapman alum Jeremiah McKibbins '15's remarkable photography exhibition, "Beyond the Visible Spectrum." McKibbins curated a collection of infrared photographs of buildings around the Chapman University campus, providing a fresh and captivating new way to see the campus' iconic locations.

The Leatherby Libraries and the Department of Student Engagement are thrilled to announce "Championing Voices," a collaboration celebrating the voices and stories of female Chapman writers during Women's History Month!
The Leatherby Libraries team has curated a bibliography and reference desk display showcasing the titles of our alumnae authors. In conjunction with these efforts, the Department of Student Engagement has created a poster display highlighting a selection of books from our bibliography in the hallway to honor the writers and their works.

It's that time of year again! The Leatherby Libraries is accepting applications for the Tam and Kevin Ross Undergraduate Research Prize!
The Kevin and Tam Ross Undergraduate Research Prize recognizes excellent research and effective use of library resources by Chapman University undergraduate students. To apply, all you have to do is write an essay about selecting, evaluating, and using library resources for work on a research paper or project in a 600-800 word essay.

If so, you may be interested in a new campus-wide book club celebrating First-Gen Panthers hosted by the First-Generation Promising Futures Program, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the Leatherby Libraries!
This book club will read First Gen: A Memoir by Alejandra Campoverdi, which explores the emotional toll that being a "First and Only" can have on first-generation students through her own experiences.

We are pleased to announce the Opening Reception and Panel Discussion for Acceptance. The Panel will begin at 4 PM on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in the Doy and Dee Henley Reading Room on the second floor of the Leatherby Libraries, followed by a reception with refreshments.
Our panelists will discuss autism in society to foster continued understanding and acceptance of neurodivergent individuals.

Happy Tết! The Leatherby Libraries celebrates the Vietnamese Lunar New Year with a brand new display, "Vietnamese Culture." This collection of books, curated with Chapman University's Vietnamese Student Association, showcases the rich culture of Vietnam and Vietnamese Americans. We will close early at 3 pm on Friday, 1/12, and close on Monday, 1/15, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Library will operate its regular weekend hours on Saturday, 1/13, and Sunday, 1/14.

This room is designed for students, staff, and faculty to practice and record academic presentations. Patrons can book this room for up to 2 hours using the Leatherby Libraries room booking system.

We are thrilled to announce that our Black Book Nook has earned a CASE 2023 Best of District VII Award in the category of Leadership: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives.
We are overjoyed that the Black Book Nook has received such a prestigious award, and we are excited to have a space in our library that continues to encourage the Chapman University community to engage and reflect on Black literature, thoughts, culture, and history. We are excited to celebrate our newest student art exhibit, the "Keep an Open Mind Showcase," created by Chapman Student Nick Burke '26. This exhibit, located in the Hall of Art on the Library's first floor, allowed Burke to recreate his childhood memories through graphic design. Burke, a sophomore majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in English Literature, hopes this display will encourage others to let nostalgia spark their creativity. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of this, Leatherby Libraries' Health Sciences Librarians David Carson and Ivan Portillo have developed a virtual exhibit to educate the Chapman University community on the history of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment development. This exhibit aims to inform readers on how far our understanding of breast cancer has come and to encourage continued support for the further development of new treatments.

Attention current, full-time Chapman University Faculty! The Leatherby Libraries, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, Office of Research, and the IS&T Department, is pleased to announce the inaugural semester of the Supporting Open Access Research and Scholarship (SOARS) program to the Chapman University community.
The SOARS program is designed to provide financial support to Chapman University faculty publishing the results of their research, scholarship, or creative activity in an Open Access (OA) journal. OA journals make research freely available to anyone, including those without subscription access, removing barriers to access while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing new insights, and increasing the impact of the research.

Come visit one of our newest exhibits," Acceptance," created by Chapman University lecturer Bernie Dickson in the Henley Reading Room on the second floor of the Leatherby Libraries. Inspired by her family's experience in social isolation, this photographic exhibit tells the family's journey toward accepting their new normal. Through love and empathy, the family came to accept their new normal, which mirrored their journey of acceptance of the role of Austism in their sons' lives.
