AB 2975 by passed the Assembly Labor Committee today. Jesse Deol, RN, from Encino Hospital Medical Center testified in support about the high stakes:

“Unfortunately one of my colleagues was stabbed. I didn’t know at the time. I heard a loud noise in the room. I went in to help, and I was stabbed as well...An ER doctor i worked with for 20 years is no longer able to work because of this incident...This needs to get passed...We should be able to do our job safely.”

AB 2975 will address hospital violence by:
🔵Requiring metal detectors at key entrances
🔵Requiring that metal detectors be staffed by trained security guards
🔵Requiring trained personnel - NOT nurses or other healthcare workers - to search personal belongings for weapons
