Hollywood HEART
Partnering with youth to develop and enhance character strength and resiliency through the arts. hollywoodheart.org
Hollywood HEART was founded by David Gale, an L.A.-based entertainment executive, in 1995 with the dream of inspiring under-served youth both locally and abroad. It has been going strong for 18 years, and Gale hopes to continue to expand the number of youth the organization serves. The continued success of Hollywood HEART relies on a committed group of volunteers and board members to raise funds,
Everyday is a day to recognize all the amazing women in our lives, but today we acknowledge how much we still have to do to close the equality gap.
We at Hollywood HEART admire, honor and are forever grateful for all the amazing women, young and old who have made us what we are today.

We had and INCREDIBLE night at Dynasty Typewriter last week at our Scriptnotes Live! event. Our friends at Scriptnotes Podcast put on a great show with their special guests Ike Barinholtz, Aline Brosh McKenna, Megan Ganz, John Gatins, and Joel Kim Booster.
Thanks to hosts John August and Craig Mazin, as well as producer Megana Rao, for hosting this fundraising event benefiting Hollywood HEART programming.
And and EXTRA special thank you goes out to our event sponsor, United Talent Agency, who made this event possible.
We can't wait until we can do this all again next year!
PS. Thanks to Milk Jar Cookies for making the VIP party extra sweet!

At Hollywood HEART, we believe arts education is essential. Arts education brings together communities, cultivates confidence, fosters creativity, builds self-esteem, and encourages exploration. The arts brings us closer together - which is so important in times when we’re kept apart.

This Thanksgiving, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. Our amazing teaching artists, our incredible participants, the donors and foundations that allow us to fulfill our mission, and the phenomenal Hollywood HEART community have kept our hearts full and our hopes high during this difficult year. We are thankful for YOU!! Leave us a comment with what you’re feeling thankful for today!
And from our (Hollywood) HEARTs to yours, we wish you all a wonderful, safe, and healthy Thanksgiving!!
To our Hollywood HEART community -
From our hearts to yours, we hope you and your loved ones are healthy and well. As we’ve watched the COVID-19 pandemic unfurl, each of you has been in our thoughts.
Last week, in conjunction with our partners at One Heartland, we made the heartbreaking decision to cancel our 2020 session of Camp Hollywood HEART. It is an incredibly difficult decision, but it is the right one. Camper safety has and always will be our number one priority. And with so many uncertainties around the future state of public health, we could not take any risks by holding what would have been our 25th summer camp.
We know, and we’re sure you do too, that camp is not just a physical place or time. Camp lives in our hearts, it’s with us every day. And, we believe the communities we serve need the arts now more than ever.
We are exploring the possibility of offering our programming online for the first time in our history. Our goal is to create a virtual Camp Hollywood HEART this summer - connecting young artists with teaching artists, bringing together new communities, and continuing to cultivate confidence, creativity, and self-esteem. We’re already working with our partners at One Heartland to connect with families and campers to learn what programming is needed, and how best to deliver.
Now we need to hear from you. We’re asking our community (yes, that means you) to answer just a few short questions so we can learn how to best translate the magic of Hollywood HEART into an online setting.
If you’re a camper (or former camper), or a HH programming participate, click here: https://forms.gle/tcNqoQtbogn7KcM19
If you’re a teaching artist, click here: https://forms.gle/JshP1eYCpopwTQg2A
If you’re a member of the Hollywood HEART community, click here: https://forms.gle/npgdyM4KcM7ansZr5
These questionnaires should take less than 10 minutes, and we’d love to hear from you by Wednesday! Help us spread the word! Like this post, leave a comment telling us how you’re doing, and tag a camp friend so they know to complete their questionnaire too!
Most importantly, we want you to know Hollywood HEART is here for you. We believe the arts have the power to connect, encourage, and heal, and nothing can change that. 2020 is proving to be a year of challenges, experimentation, and ultimately, growth. We will be in touch as we progress.
With love,
- Team Hollywood HEART

Congratulations to our beloved Acting Teaching Artist, Tawanna Benbow, on her selection to join The Education, Arts and Social-Emotional Learning (EASEL) Program with Inner-City Arts!
It is an absolute honor to celebrate Tawanna on her recent selection to ' personal development program: EASEL which, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Unified School District, provides training in the arts for classroom teachers, school administrators, teaching artists, and community partners. Tawanna is one of just 20 participants, and is the only teaching artist in this cohort - the other 19 participants are LAUSD principals and assistant principals.
In this program, Tawanna will explore how to bridge arts instruction with other core content areas through a lens of social-emotional learning and brain-based research.
Tawanna, we are so proud of your work, and are honored you are representing Hollywood HEART in the community!
Have a BOO-tiful time trick o' treating friends!! This is a little behind-the-scenes look at our movie team from Camp Hollywood HEART!
