One of our core values is community, and what better way to come together as the Maranatha family than at our annual Back to School Picnic! We are truly grateful for the support of our families, with over 800 in attendance enjoying fellowship, free food, and fun games 😍

One of our cherished traditions is taking a moment to pray over our students, with Dr. Ketterling leading a prayer as we launch into a new school year. Families then attended meetings for athletics, visual arts, and performing arts - areas in which almost all of our students are involved.

If tonight is any indication of what this school year will be like, it promises to be a joyful one ❤️💙

We’re grateful for the opportunity to catch up with Ephraim Choi, a 2023 alum, as his younger sister began her first day of school at Maranatha today! Currently attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, Midshipman Choi shared valuable insights about his time at Maranatha with families at this morning’s PA meeting. No matter where life takes you, you’re always welcome to visit us and be part of our community ❤️💙

We’re kicking-off our new electronic device policy tomorrow ‼️ This policy aims to enhance focus, encourage students to be present with their peers, and foster healthy social skills. We look forward to growing as skilled communicators as a school community this year ❤️💙

Last weekend, our Student Council leaders hosted an incredible retreat for the Class of 2028 at Forest Home, focused on building community. Freshmen bonded through chapel, team-building activities, and games, setting the stage for a fantastic year ahead. We had not one, but 𝑬 𝑰 𝑮 𝑯 𝑻 total AP courses achieve a 100% passing rate on the AP exam this year 🎉

This extraordinary accomplishment reflects the hard work and commitment of our faculty and students! 👏

As our AP teachers start to analyze data on their students’ performance on the AP exams in May, plenty of good news and excitement has started bubbling up 🤩

AP Chemistry, a notoriously challenging first-year college-level course, had 15 students take the over 3-hour long exam in May. This year, 25% of students in California and globally scored 1 or 2, but NONE of our students did! All of our AP Chemistry students scored 3 to 5, with most achieving a 4 or 5. Additionally, our students outperformed the global average on each of the seven free-response questions. Congratulations to our dedicated learners for their persistence and success! 🎉

This achievement in AP Chemistry is a testament to our students and teachers hard work, and Maranatha’s dedication to fostering a rigorous and supportive learning environment. We can’t wait to celebrate more AP exam results with you soon! ❤️💙

Head Tennis Coach Arthur Hsieh held the 4th annual Minutemen Masters Spring Fling Tennis Tournament over the weekend comprised of current students, parents, and alumni 🎾

The warm vibes, fellowship, and reconnecting felt like a Homecoming game for tennis. We loved seeing everyone, old friends and new, coming together as 40 players across 3 divisions enjoyed friendly competition.

Last week our Hollywood Service team provided clothes, haircuts, hot showers and made meals for hundreds of guests at the Serve L.A. Hope Center in Hollywood led by Mr. Chaim Diesto and Mr. Phil Chew.

They welcomed those on the margins of society and made them feel seen, heard, and most importantly, genuinely loved as they shared with them the love of Christ and the hope they have in Him. They bonded on a hike to the Hollywood Sign to pray over the city and over meals shared. Most of all, they experienced the joy of serving others together in the name of Jesus! ❤️💙

Our Science Club shined in the 2024 SeaPerch Internationals at the University of Maryland! 🤩🌊

Competing against 170+ schools, including teams from Egypt, China, New Zealand, and UAE, our three-time Regional Champions placed 7th OVERALL in the High School Stock Class! 👏🏆

Other highlights include placing 2nd in Obstacle Course (just 1 sec from 1st), and 11th in Mission Course. Shoutout to Matthew Moon ’24 (Captain), Eli Su ’24, Jeremy Ng ’25, Shaurya Bhartia ’25, Kaylee Lam ’26, Harrison Tang ’26, Spencer Wang ’26, Daniel Wang ’24, and Leo Liu ’24, coached by Dr. Shouhua Huang from JPL.

Our Costa Rica team is hard at work as they begin construction on the home project which we hope richly blesses a local family ❤️💙

Per Mr. Dusty Sanderson: “Please be in prayer that God would work in our midst as we serve the community of Pavas. Our goal is for our family to have a nearly completed home by the end of the day tomorrow. We look forward to how God will continue to show up for us!”

Saturday, May 25, was an incredibly special morning as we celebrated the hard-earned accomplishments of the Class of 2024! 🎉 The air was filled with joy and excitement, amplified by powerful speeches from our salutatorian Matthew Moon, valedictorian Skylar Li, and keynote speaker Scott Sommers.

We are immensely proud of this class’s achievements (just to name a few):
