Have you heard the news? On May 2, President Biden signed a proclamation expanding the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument to include another 105,000 acres of lands that are culturally, ecologically, and historically important to our region. The newly added lands include the portions of the "front country" of the San Gabriels that were left out when the Monument was established in 2014, ranging roughly from north of Monrovia to north of Sylmar. Among other benefits, this designation opens the door for more resources and staffing to be dedicated to protecting and maintaining these public lands.
