The College of EMS, WiSys, PACCE, and the Platteville Chamber of Commerce is hosting the first UW-Platteville Prototype Hackathon. Please sign up at the link above to tell us a little about the product you would like to create, or the problem that you would like help to solve. We will buy materials, and open the labs for you to use with a team that will be created around your project. If you don't have an idea, but would like to get involved with a project feel free to sign up as well! The best product will win $1,000 and admission to the WiSys portfolio. UW–Platteville hosts Business Model Workshop For Entrepreneurial-minded students

On Wednesday, February 11, 2015 UW-Platteville’s Pioneer Academic Center for Community Engagement will host a Business Model workshop at the Markee Pioneer Student Center. The workshop gets underway at 5 p.m. The workshop is free and open to all UW-Platteville students.
The workshop will focus on a “Lean Startup” approach to business development. The lead presenter will be Eric Steege, MBA, who is a Program Manager with the Division of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development at UW-Extension. Lean Startup is a new way of thinking about the entrepreneurial process and business concept development. Instead of preparing a detailed business plan, one identifies and tests the business assumptions early in order to quickly identify customers and market potential. Eric will be joined by UW-Platteville’s Kevin Bernhardt, Director of the Pioneer Academic Center for Community Engagement; Marcia Harr Bailey, Entrepreneurship Minor Coordinator and Brock Waterman, Pioneer Launch Lab Coordinator. Students will have an opportunity to get one-on-one advice and feedback on their ideas and business models.
The workshop will set the stage for the upcoming Business Model Competition to be held in March, 2015. For more information on the workshop and to register for the workshop and/or the competition, visit uwplatt.edu/entrepreneurship.
