We are back at it, keeping the Tree Arrington legacy alive in collaboration with Community Matters 2 - "CM2" and The Growing Stemz Foundation. We have just completed the paid training for 25 youth in the City of Poughkeepsie giving them real skills that equip them with the competency and foundation for employment. It would be a benefit to any employer to hire these youth and young adults.
Congratulations to all the participants! We are proud of you!
A special mention goes to Sakima McClinton for her leadership, dedication, and ability to guide these students and young adults over the finish line.

Images of a few of the stories on display through February 2016 at the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center (317 Main Street ). Stories based on interviews conducted by our Peer Mentors, as well as, volunteers to celebrate our elders from the community of Poughkeepsie.
R.E.A.L Skills Peer Mentor Poughkeepsie High School students dropped by the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center to participate in the "Poughkeepsie Elder Stories: Text-hibition ". To honor Black History Month, the exhibit is up through February 16, 2016.
Over the last months, volunteers have taken to the streets, living rooms, senior homes, churches and community spaces to interview African-American and Afro-Caribbean seniors in our community about their lives. Thanks to the generosity of the McCall family (Leann, Sarah, and John), it was another terrific Easter Egg hunt for the children of R.E.A.L. Skills Network. Thank you Leann, John, and Sarah for the support you have given to our community throughout the years. We could not do what we do without the volunteer efforts of individuals like yourselves and so many others e.g. our college fellows, peer coordinators (high school students) and middle school students, It was a fun afternoon for all.
Due to Spring Recess for the Poughkeepsie School District, all after-school programs are also on recess the week of March 30 - April 3rd. Programs will resume Monday, April 6th. Enjoy your break :-)
