The Food & Hospitality Industry Career Fair is tomorrow, October 12th and will be located on the Harborside Campus in the Wildcat Center!
In preparation, Tracy Chan, JWU Alumni 20’, 21’ MBA, and Senior Associate of Campus Programs at Hilton, sent over five of her best tips for a successful career fair experience. Be sure to keep her advice in mind for extra confidence and preparation while meeting with industry professionals!
1) Research the companies in attendance and make two lists: One for the companies you want to prioritize and one for the companies you want to meet with if you have time.
2) Update your resume and print a few copies as this will help to refresh yourself on your experiences and skillsets that you can speak to during your interactions.
3) Create an elevator pitch but avoid overdoing it, 45 seconds is a sweet spot! Include your name, major, graduation date, and goal of the interaction.
4) Prepare a professional outfit that you feel comfortable and confident in, including a bag to hold your things.
5) Tell your professors that you plan to attend the fair. They may know of some alumni who are attending & can help make a connection!
Tracy and the Hilton team will be in attendance during the event for students to visit and learn more about the opportunities the company has to offer. Additionally, check out to begin applying for internships. Thank you, Tracy, for these helpful tips going into tomorrow's career fair! 🍍

Huge Shoutout to Ashley Zechello for her research project highlighting Employee Wellness as a competitive advantage in the Private Club Industry. Ashley’s work is just the beginning and will be published in Club Management Magazine and she was recently featured on the Let’s Talk Club Management Podcast. This is an awesome example of what a COHM education is all about!

Link to the podcast is in the Bio and you can read more about her project here:

Hospitality Management major Ashley Zechello ’24 not only enjoyed the experience of interning at the private club in Brookline, Massachusetts where she now works as an employee — she used the opportunity to conduct a study exploring the value of health within the industry. Zechello examined innovative approaches to wellness from the perspectives of employee health, member health, community health and environmental health. She found that clubs that empower and invest in employees, focus on fitness centers and healthy food, support local businesses and towns to be part of something larger than the organization itself, and emphasize the importance of being sustainable were more successful. Her study is being published in Club Management magazine, where she hopes it will inspire others to consider health.
