The faculty of the HSA program are proud to recognize the accomplishments of Ms. Jazmine Habern and her work with the UK Markey STRONG Scholars Program.

Today Jazmine presented her research on cervical cancer data to determine if health disparities affect treatment outcomes.

Jazmine has enjoyed her time with the program and found a new love for research and statistical software. She hopes to persue a masters and possibly a doctorate in health research.

It may be summer, but your EHS faculty are still hard at work! This week a few of our faculty traveled to Pittsburgh, PA to attend the NEHA Annual Education Conference to ensure they are staying up to date on the latest and greatest in the EH profession.

Last week, we brought awareness to Men's Health Week💉🩺 and celebrated Father's Day 👔, so this week we are taking the time to shine a spotlight on the incredible men who make our organization strong! From leadership to every role in between, their hard work and dedication to public health inspire us every day. Here's to our outstanding team of men at WEDCO! 🌟

Happy Earth Day! Our EHS program traces its roots back to Earth Day in the early 1970s. As the years roll, an environmental health degree's value has only increased. Every day is Earth Day for the EHS professional. The workforce needed is growing twice the rate of the national average and the median pay for a B.S. degree holder was $78,980 in May 2023 versus $48,060 for all workers. Another hidden gem about the EHS program... Thanks to $134,815 in support to Eastern Kentucky University, NIOSH allows us to provide full EKU MPH Graduate School tuition support for six to eight U.S. applicants in our MPH-EOHS program annually through our partnership with the University of Kentucky (UK) in providing occupational safety and health research and training in Central Appalachia. Dr. Pinion is the Associate Dean of Applied Practice and Continuing Ed for the College of Health Sciences and Public Policy at Walden University.
