There was a lot to celebrate around the office today!

Congratulations to Lawrence Lee, one of our veteran students, on winning the 1st annual OMVA chili cookoff! Lawrence received a prize donated by our friends at US bank.

Also from our office, Josh Maynard was promoted to Assistant Director of EKU OMVA.

Finally, Happy Birthday to Trevor Jenkins! Trevor is the Education Specialist for our Veterans Upward Bound program.

With a heavy heart, we share this news with all of you: Our beloved Roy Kidd, a pillar of the EKU community and college football legend, passed away today at the age of 91. Coach Kidd became a part of our family in 1950 as a student and athlete, before embarking on a record-breaking and monumental career as head football coach from 1964 to 2002. Coach Kidd left an indelible impact on every person he encountered, whether in athletics, across campus or beyond. Our university is forever grateful for his loyalty and service to our students. As we mourn, please join us in sending well wishes to his wife and children. Visitation details will be finalized in the near future, and once we have those details, we will be sure to share them with you. Rest in Peace, Coach Roy Kidd. Today we celebrate Women Veterans Recognition Day! 🎉🙌 This day commemorates 75 years since the signing of the Women's Armed Service Integration Act; a groundbreaking decision that granted women a permanent place in the Armed Forces. Today, VA's Center for Women Veterans offers specialized support for women who have served - learn more about them at https://www.va.gov/womenvet/

This year, VA is also proud to celebrate 100 years of providing health care for women Veterans! In 1993, the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers accepted women Veterans of WWI for medical care and hospitalization for the first time at the Milwaukee and Danville branches.

Women have proudly served our country from the Revolutionary War to the present day. 💪 Whether as nurses, fighters, or test pilots, they have been an integral part of our military. Let's show appreciation for their service!

⚠️ GI Bill® Students: The Post-9/11 GI Bill Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) payment for the end of March may be delayed by approximately one business day, due to an unexpected systems issue. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes the importance of the MHA and is working diligently to ensure your MHA disbursement posts as soon as possible.

For those with direct deposit, there is a possibility that the MHA payment could post at financial institutions by late Friday (March 31) or Saturday (April 1). Hard copy checks will be distributed expeditiously.
