With a generous gift to the Affordable Course Content Initiative, Leslie Brown is helping to drive meaningful change. This VCU Libraries initiative creates free or low-cost textbooks and has saved students and their families more than $10 million. As a leader in higher education, Brown understands student needs. Her Giving Day donation will make a difference in students’ lives. She says: “This is the only giving opportunity that I know of in the university where you make a donation and the rate of return just keeps going up. Every time a professor teaches, the impact of your gift doubles.” She encourages others in the VCU community to help. “People remember the teacher who was the difference maker. We could, each individually, be a spark for students through this initiative,” Brown reflects.
