Meet little typhoon Toby! He just came into rescue today. He is a bundle of puppy, loving the freedom and already made his first friend Juniper. He had a blast. Heading to the groomer tomorrow for a nice haircut and bath then off to the vets for the works.

This crew is almost ready for their Furever home. Found huddled together abandoned they are so bonded. We are hoping to find a family that will take all three of them. The boys are Captain America, and Tony Stark and the girl is Pepper Potts. Aren’t they cute????

The Bridge has a new angel tonight and he is a bright star. Our sweet little Bucky adopted in 2020 to one of the most perfect Furever mama's we have ever had. These 2 were inseparable and spent every minute together. Everyone that met Bucky fell in love with him, from people walking by to his Starbuck's drive thru family. We are sure he is enjoying his endless supply of cream cheese and Starbucks pup cups. Our hearts are broken for his mama. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. See ya at the Bridge little Buck Buck.

Our Christmas wish came true!
Chester Cheeto our little orange bundle of joy got retested today and came back NEGATIVE!!!!!! We are so very happy! And he has a special human who can't wait to adopt him!
Thanks for all your good wishes and prayers!

If we can ask for one more wish please keep our sweet little Bucky in your prayers. He and his adopted mom have had such a rough time lately. Bucky ruptured a disc and will need some heavy duty surgery in the next few days. He is one tough little dude but send those good thoughts and prayers to him and his human mama. I will keep you updated.

Please keep our little rescue in mind for your End of Year donations. We truly love and appreciate our peeps out there!

Vet visits for the marvel clan and getting new baby Chester checked out on his issues

Photos from FurEver Pawz Rescue's post 11/07/2023

Meet our newest little cutie Chester! He was found abandoned, and all alone by a good human who immediately contacted us for help. He is a sweet, cuddly boy, and is already loving his new environment. Unfortunately, he has a couple issues that we will be dealing with. First, he has a big portion of his lower lip missing, it doesn’t seem like there’s been trauma there but there’s definitely something that happened to the sweet guy. He has a hard time keeping the food in his mouth but he is doing really well at this point in time eating. He also has a large lump on his back leg near his elbow, not sure if it’s a deformity or if he was injured. We probably need to get an x-ray on that and make sure that it’s nothing major. In the meantime he is doing well and loving the attention.

Sending out our thoughts and prayers to a wonderful adopter Jan who just lost her sweet Angel, Piper. Piper came to us in 2016, used as a breeder dog with some serious dental issues we had taken care of first then she found her FurEver home with Jan. Golden hugs to you Jan for loving our sweet girl. We couldn't have asked for a more pawsome family for our little golden Angel.

UPDATE!
The kittens are starting to gain weight and getting lots of love! They are eating a lot! If you can help it is much appreciated! Our Amazon Wishlist link is at the bottom of the post. Enjoy the new pics!

We would like to introduce you to 3 very lucky kittens. They were found huddled together, in 100 degree heat, starving and thirsty by one of our volunteers. How could we not save them? So here are Capt America (Orange), Pepper Potts (Little grey one) and Tony Stark (long haired grey tabby). All are safe, had their vet check today. Tested negative for FeLV, and are learning what love is. They are eating like little piggies now. We added some things to our wish list on Amazon if you would like to help. Let us know if you are interested in adopting one or all three! They are so sweet when they are cuddling together!

Congratulations Jen Havens!!! We love you!
Jen has ALWAYS been there for any of our animals in need. Helping us and even fostering a time or two! You rock! Please see the links at the end of the article if you need an awesome trainer. While she is now living in New Mexico her Zoom training and classes are spot on! Lance and I are in her puppy class now!

The Best New Mexico Dog Trainers in 2022
Jen Havens

For 40+ years, I lived in Monrovia CA where I founded and operated Two Dogs Pet Services, a professional pet care & dog walking company. We added puppy socialization, basic manners, and therapy dog training in 2017.

I've worked as a barista, a nanny to three children, youth group director, customer service in retail stores and restaurants, and Out Patient Nurse Coordinator at Dr. Domotor's Animal House Veterinary Hospital.

I have traveled through 35 states with one or two whippets and an old tortoise in search of massive amounts of dog fun!
In June of 2022, my three wonderful whippets (Beans, Ryder, and Vinney) and I moved to Taos, New Mexico so I could be closer to my senior mom. We are looking forward to exploring more and experiencing all the land of enchantment and four seasons has to offer.

All three whippets have multiple trick dog titles and have earned their CGCA (Canine Good Citizen Advanced, now Community Canine). Vinney received his first trick title at 17 weeks. Beans and Ryder earned their AKC Obedience Beginner Novice titles. Beans has her Rally Advanced title, Ryder has his Rally Intermediate. Both have earned Fast CAT and CAT titles and Ryder is an AKC Field Champion and has a Dock Novice title. Beans recently retired from therapy dog work and is semi-retired as my service dog. Vinney is in training to take over for Beans as my service dog and we will be starting public access training soon!

Services include:

In home training
Deaf dog training
Reactive dog training
Puppy training
More info about service provided: I'm available for one on one in-person in or near Taos, NM or virtual consults and training sessions. Personal, small group online classes include Puppy Squad, Trick Squad, and Teamwork Sessions. Puppy Squad is geared toward pups up to 6 months. Trick Squad is for anyone who wants to learn how to use fun tricks to get desirable behaviors and/or earn Trick titles through AKC. Teamwork Sessions are for dog guardians facing more challenging behaviors, it's a deep dive into the whys.
In-person classes include CGC/Tricks and Fit Dog Level 1+2 small groups, as well as 1:1 consults and sessions in the client's home.

Behavioral issue focus: Fearful and under socialized pups are the calls I receive most often with new rescues and new puppies as close seconds.

Training methods: I focus on the welfare of each dog, person, and household I work with and I'm proud to use effective, positive reinforcement using rewards, fear free, and humane methods of care and training.
I teach how to recognize a dog's body language cues so clients are able to gain further understanding about what their dogs need and how they're asking us to meet those needs.
My favorite ways to meet a dog's needs include enrichment, games, fitness, tricks, and creative use of the environment/nature. I love teaching clients how to get alternative behaviors to those frustrating, undesirable behaviors.
Each household is different and each client gets to create their own training plan with my guidance on what we want to work on and in what order. Training must be doable for the entire household so I strive to give the client full control over their plan.

Why I became a dog trainer:

At first, to work with my own dogs in a way I felt good about after growing up learning that training and 'control' were one and the same. Now, it's to help people understand their dogs, avoid frustration, and get the desirable behaviors while having a lot of fun!
My deaf dog, 11 yrs now, needed positive reinforcement and I didn't know how to do that so I took a couple puppy classes with Paul Owens and decided I needed to learn and do more.
Then I met Kat Camplin and heard about the science behind dog training and wanted more of that, too.
Both were helping so many people and dogs and I wanted to learn how to do that in the same ethical and practical ways.
Since meeting them both, I've brought home two more whippets and they have both made me a better trainer and continue to make me a better person.

My favorite part of being a dog trainer:

One of the things that excites me most about working with dogs and their people is watching them have fun with while learning how to effectively meet their household's and dog's needs. Seeing the 'Ohhh! I get it now!' happen thrills me!
I also love meeting people and their pups where they are and teaching them how to teach their pups what they want them to do. And helping them achieve their desired relationship with their dog.

My #1 dog training tip: Slow down. I find that when we back the bus up, take a few deep breaths, observe before acting, and try to wait a moment, our dogs figure things out a lot sooner. Giving them time and distance is all part of the slowing down, too.

Service areas: Taos, Taos County, El Prado, Talpa, Arroyo Seco

We received this notice from AmazonSmile today. Thank you all for your support for our Pawz rescues throughout the years.

Dear charitable organization,

In 2013, we launched AmazonSmile to make it easier for customers to support their favorite charities. We were excited about the potential for the program and the impact it could have for many charitable organizations. We want to thank you for your partnership during all these years.

After almost a decade of running AmazonSmile, we learned that with so many eligible organizations—more than 1 million globally—our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen that Amazon can have a more significant and lasting impact if we invest in specific areas and focus our philanthropic efforts in the communities where our employees live and work. We’ve started to see the benefits of a more focused approach with our investments in programs like Amazon Future Engineer and our $2 billion investment in building affordable housing in our hometown communities through the Amazon Housing Equity Fund—and we will continue to pursue and invest in other areas where we’ve seen we can make meaningful change.

We are writing to let you know that we have made plans to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023. Until this date, customer purchases made via AmazonSmile will continue to accrue funds for your charity as normal. To help nonprofits like you plan ahead, we will also provide you with a one-time payment equivalent to three months of payments based on what you accrued in 2022 through this program. The timing of this final payment will be approximately 60 to 90 days after February 20, 2023. We hope that this will help minimize the impact that this decision might have.

You will be able to continue asking for the support from Amazon customers in other ways, like creating your product lists.

We will keep supporting thousands of charities across the U.S. in many ways, and focus on the areas we believe can help create an even greater impact. Our long-term commitment to our communities remains the same: We are determined to help create a better world for our customers, our employees, and the communities we serve across the country.

Thank you,
AmazonSmile Team

We had a pawmazing adoption yesterday! Our little Cupcake found her FurEver home! Cupcake came to us in June 2021 with a broken neck and our Pawz family rallied to her rescue! We could have never saved her without your generous donations (her medical was over $10,000.00) But look at her now! She is going to have the FurEver life she deserves! She already is being spoiled and happy! We are so very happy for our little girl!

Emma wasn't with us long as our pawsome quilt maker( Quilts for Rescues) Lori Archer saw her. She had recently lost one of her furbabies Dax who she adopted from us and we felt that Emma was going to be a great fit for Lori and her kids. Emma was a hot mess (really overweight, really overgrown with huge mats) but Lori took the challenge and Emma is now losing weight (some of it those huge mats!) and settling into the family. Thank you Lori Archer for all you do for our rescue! We love you!

We are looking for a Foster or Foster with intent to adopt for Cooper. He still needs some work on his socialization skills, so he needs to be an only dog right now. He seems fine with the foster's cats, but they are dog savvy. He is 4 years old but was used for breeding so was only recently neutered. We will be setting up some training lessons (ZOOM) with our pawsome trainer to help him adjust. Please fill out a Foster Application on our website at www.fureverpawzrescue.org if you are interested. We want to keep him in local area.
