San Antonio River Authority
San Antonio River Authority SARA, created in 1937, is one of many such active river authorities in the State of Texas.
In 1917, the voters of Texas, recognizing the necessity of developing and conserving the Stateβs water resources and inspired by devastating floods of 1913 and 1914, passed a Constitutional amendment allowing the Legislature to create special purpose political subdivisions of the State to serve regional areas, generally coincidental with river basins and to be generally known as river authorities. Its jurisdiction covers 3,658 square milesβall of Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad Counties.
Update: Work has been completed! Have a safe weekend everyone π
π¨ PARKS NOTICE: Due to tree maintenance, there will be paused traffic on the west side of the river trail opposite of the Pearl property. Flaggers will be on-site directing trail traffic. Sorry for the inconvenience.

These eco-friendly logs play a crucial role in stabilizing the banks of the San Antonio River while fostering native aquatic vegetation like spike rush, water-fern, and many others.
πΏπ§ This ongoing effort has successfully supported over 1600 feet of riverbank reclamation and ecological lift so far in areas along the Mission Reach Project. Proud to be making a positive impact in our watershed!
