"Changing the World Without Changing Course"
YachtAid Global, is a registered 501c3 founded in 2006, operating at the highest levels of international non-profit work, provides humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and conservation programs across coastal communities worldwide, through our global network of donors, organizations, and superyachts. Our initiatives engage the yachting community’s generosity and unique assets already in place, to s
Initial findings from a recent Operation Swimway expedition in the Caribbean are providing important insights into the migratory behaviors of the studied shark species. The first data collected from silky sharks indicate a preliminary affinity for the waters surrounding Antigua, suggesting that this area serves as a key habitat for this species. The data collected from the tagged tiger sharks in contrast reveal a broader range of movement, reflecting the species’ adaptability and extensive migratory behavior. While some individuals’ travels ranged as far north as St. Maarten and south to Montserrat, most tagged tiger sharks migrated southwards, corroborating existing knowledge of regional shark migration patterns.
The insights gained are instrumental in advancing regional conservation goals by providing a scientific basis for identifying and protecting key habitats and migratory corridors for these threatened species of sharks in the Caribbean.

As part of Operation Viti, YachtAid Global and our coalition partners recently completed some vital upgrades to a Fijian community’s water supply. For generations, this community has relied on a single well for water which has seen a steady decline in levels and water quality causing various health issues for the island’s inhabitants.
In addition to repairing the well’s wall, effective water filters were installed, repairs were made to the existing pipeline to the community and an entirely new pipeline was built to bring clean water to the island’s school. Standpipes were also installed in new areas where the community will soon be relocating residents as part of the storm prevention needed to adapt to climate change.
To increase water flow to these clean water access depots, solar panels designed to power new water pumps for these pipelines were also installed by the YachtAid Global team.
These necessary improvements to the lifestyle and health of the people of these remote Fijian islands would not be possible without the help of our coalition partners and the donations, participation and support of the yachting community.
This project is aligned with and supports the Unified Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6

With many forecasting agencies predicting an above-average storm season, and as the first storm of the year with the potential to have hurricane-force winds approaches the West Indies in the southern Caribbean, YachtAid Global continues to monitor global weather patterns preparing to assist where we can bringing aid and relief to the people affected.
World Ocean Day
“Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate”
Absorbing about 90% of the excess heat generated by increased greenhouse gas emissions, the ocean mitigates some of the immediate impacts of global warming on land temperatures.
However, this process has led to the ocean warming, evident with the mass coral bleaching events we are seeing around the world. We are currently experiencing the fourth and strongest bleaching event on record since January of 2023, confirmed by the NOAA last month.
In addition to Operation Swimway, a conservation program featuring investments into the equipment and science of ocean conservation, YachtAid Global also runs Operation Lifestone, which is focused on the conservation, restoration and monitoring of coral reefs.
YachtAid Global science team partners with in-country teams to study and preserve corals using different harvesting, nurturing, and transplanting techniques in order to build new more robust reef ecosystems.
The yachting community sees our planet through slightly different eyes; with a deeper appreciation for the adventurous experiences that it provides, and the tranquility and peace that comes with being able to access some of the most remote and beautiful places in the world.
With the reward of these experiences there also comes a unique opportunity for the our community to make real and much needed contributions to both the coastal communities and the marine environments that share with us their land, sea and spirit.

Anniversaries are both a time for celebration and reflection. As Yachtaid Global officially kicks off our 18th year today, we are humbled by the support and efforts of the countless volunteers and donors that have helped YAG make such a positive impact across coastal communities around the world.
In 2006, the origins of YachtAid Global’s efforts were focused primarily on small humanitarian and disaster relief projects, and although our mission has expanded to include large-scale humanitarian and conservation initiatives spanning multiple countries, regions and communities globally, YAG only continues to be successful because of the yacht owners, crews and volunteers that support us and join us in doing this important work. We are grateful for your support that enables Yachtaid Global to proudly represent the yachting communities altruism and sustainability initiatives. Here is to what’s possible in the next 18 years.
Mangrove forests play an important role in coastal environments acting as a natural barrier against rising tides and storm surges, and providing a natural solution to reducing carbon in the atmosphere. Although mangrove forests cover just 0.1% of the planets surface, they store up to 10 times more carbon per hectare than other terrestrial forests.
Consider joining us for a new opportunity in the Osa Peninsula planting Mangrove Trees as part of our Blue Carbon Initiative. This project, with a planting season that runs annually from the end of May through the end of October, allows transient yachts and crew to donate and participate toward this work in Costa Rica’s crown jewel of biodiversity. Just 1,800 square kilometers, the Osa Peninsula is home to approximately half of the country’s 500,000 species.

Recently - as part of “Operation Turu” which is focused on the yachting community’s work across French Polynesia - a highly collaborative effort across Tuamotu Islands delivered school books, teaching & learning supplies including new computers and iPads to the school on Makemo atoll. This initiative is in line with our shared belief that the visiting yachts should care for the people and environment that share with us their land, sea, and spirit.
We are grateful for the strong collaboration between SY Seahawk, Tahiti Private Expeditions and members of YachtAid Global team whom working together create such meaningful opportunities for the visiting yachts to make a direct contribution towards local initiatives that make the biggest difference.
This ongoing YachtAid Global work also directly contributes to the worldwide United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

World Wildlife Day is a celebration of the incredible diversity of life that inhabits our planet, highlighting the importance of preserving and protecting our natural world. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013, this annual event serves as a reminder of the urgent need to conserve wildlife and their habitats.
So, on this World Wildlife Day, let us celebrate the beauty and wonder of the natural world, and let us rededicate ourselves to the important work of protecting and preserving it. Our planet’s wildlife is precious and irreplaceable, and it is up to us to safeguard it for the benefit of all life on Earth.
YachtAid Global runs “Operation Swimway”, a conservation program featuring investments into the equipment and science of ocean conservation while enabling interested owners, guests, and crew to work closely with distinguished members of the science community to accelerate the conservation of pelagic species.

Operation Jade - Costa Rica
This month in Costa Rica the YachtAid Global team and participating yacht crews directly contributed to the construction of a new school that YAG has been able to fund through the support of generous donors. Working in the hot Costa Rican sun, the team was able to complete the build of an entire classroom really from the ground up; cementing in posts, levelling, assembling and sealing the pre-constructed wall panels that make up each section of the school.
In addition to the contributions to the construction, yacht crews also visited schools in the area, meeting with children and distributing much-needed school supplies.
This school construction initiative and delivery of supplies in Costa Rica is just another step forward for the yachting community to make a positive difference in these remote areas that consistently lack support.

Operation Lifestone is focused on the conservation, restoration and monitoring of coral reefs. YachtAid Global science team partners with in-country teams to study and preserve corals using different harvesting, nurturing, and transplanting techniques in order to build more robust reef ecosystems.
Coral reefs are sensitive to the temperature changes that can be observed throughout oceans with the evidence of recent mass bleaching events. These reefs cover less than 1% percent of the Earth’s surface but are home to 34% of known marine biodiversity, with more yet to be discovered. Corals are foundational species in coral reef ecosystems, supporting and providing refuge for all forms of life: from primary producers to top predators such as sharks.
In addition to playing a significant role in marine ecosystems, coral reefs can also absorb over 95% of a wave’s energy buffering shorelines from waves, currents and storms surges protecting coastal communities.

YachtAid Global has been supporting the people of Fiji through Operation Viti providing disaster relief, rebuilding homes, and installing and updating infrastructures to increase the social well-being and resilience of Fijian communities.
As mariners, travellers and general life enthusiasts the sense of adventure, exploration, and appreciation for the beauty of these waterways, coastal communities and their people also comes with the responsibility of the yachting community to support those who share with us their land, sea and spirit.
Recently, a participating yacht crew captured the build of one of many homes being built and retrofitted in the area as part of our Build-Back Better initiative. The challenges of these remote location community development projects can be extensive, and although the support of our donors along with the strategic planning and ex*****on from YAG and dedicated coalition partners is driving the growth of these initiatives, it is seeing the impact of the resourceful and hard-working yacht crews that helps make what we do at YachtAid Global so rewarding.

November 20th - World Children’s Day, first established in 1954, emphasizes the fundamental rights of children, and the importance of improving children’s welfare.
In 1959, the UN adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the most widely ratified human rights treaty in history that inspired governments to change laws and policies. This treaty protected their rights enabling children to participate in their society more, and committed to the government investment into the health care, nutrition, development and safety of children.
These rights of children for reasonable access to clean drinking water, daily hygiene and the right to quality education are all fundamental freedoms the team at YachtAid Global strongly believes in and supports through various operations around the globe.
Our commitment to these endeavours is only possible due to the support of our donors, volunteers, and participating yacht crews.

World Science Day for Peace & Development aims to highlight the significant role of science in today's society and the need to engage and inform the public further both in scientific development, and the role scientists play in broadening our understanding of the remarkable, fragile planet we call home.
YachtAid Global’s science team runs “Operation Swimway”, a conservation program featuring in-depth research and investments into the equipment and science of ocean conservation while enabling interested owners, guests, and crew to work closely with our science team and other distinguished members of the scientific community to accelerate the conservation of pelagic species.
Our collaborative efforts are focused on the conservation of critical migration corridors for sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and billfish along routes. These corridors, which have been significantly impacted by overfishing and bycatch, play a critical role in the migration of these species as they seek to reach new feeding grounds and protected pupping areas.
These efforts are also in line with UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #14 which aims to “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.”

November 5 every year marks the United Nations World Tsunami Awareness Day.
YachtAid Global’s collaborative disaster response efforts over the years include executing disaster relief operations, delivering life-saving supplies, installing drinking water depots, and conducting build-back-better initiatives to rebuild impacted homes and community centers.
Often, during build-back-better initiatives, homes are also relocated to a higher ground to safer areas as part of climate change adaptation, away from higher-risk areas.
In addition to protecting the communities from the storm surges produced by cyclones and hurricanes impacting these communities, build-back-better initiatives also protect those from much less frequent tsunamis which are an important reality to consider for anyone living by the coastline.
These disaster risk reduction efforts are in line with many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for making a better and safer world:
SDG #6 - Clean Water and Sanitation
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
SDG #11 - Sustainable cities and communities
Goal 11 is about making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Recently YachtAid Global, with support from our donors and volunteers, completed work over several schools in Costa Rica through Operation Jade as we continue our global education initiative.
Over the few weeks, we were able to build, repair and restore classrooms, deliver new desks for students, tables for dining rooms and upgrade and install new kitchen appliances for the schools cafeteria.
These efforts advance the key Untied Nation's Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG #4 - Quality Education: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
SDG #11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities: making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

As Tropical Cyclone Lola approaches the island nation of Vanuatu today, the team at YachtAid Global is monitoring the situation closely as we all prepare for the first storm of hurricane season in the South Pacific.
Fortunately Lola was at least downgraded to a Category 4 hurricane earlier today by the Vanuatu Meteorology Service as earlier meteorologists reports were predicting record breaking winds.
Sustainable Development Goal #4 -“Quality Education” is the key that will allow many other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved - especially when people are able to get quality education and they can break from the cycle of poverty.
The progress towards improving quality education around the world was already fairly slow, but since COVID-19 global pandemic, the number of children estimated to be completely staying out of school world wide by 2030 are now over 84 million, while approximately 300 million students will lack the basic numeracy and literacy skills necessary for success in life.
YachtAid Global collaborates with yachts & crew to help in this area in many ways, including establishing libraries, providing school supplies, repairing and replacing school classrooms, cafeterias and playgrounds in many of the communities the yachts visit.

YachtAid Global team members are on the ground conducting initial assessments and providing disaster relief across the communities in Bahia de Banderas impacted by Hurricane Lidia.Hurricane Lidia, a powerful Category 4 hurricane with winds speeds up to 140 mph (220 km/hr), recently made landfall in Mexico.
This storm, the third-strongest Pacific hurricane on record to make landfall in Mexico, caused extensive damage through the flooding from the storm surge including heavy rainfall that caused numerous landslides in the area.
Held every 13 October, The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters.
This year, the day aims to further address the connection between disasters and inequality as these disasters leave the most vulnerable exposed to a more difficult recovery and in most cases, push these communities further into poverty.
YachtAid Global, with the support of our donors and participants, addresses these issues by supporting communities through our collaborative disaster response efforts as well as through our Build-Back-Better programs building more storm-resilient homes and community structures.
These disaster risk reduction efforts are also in line with many of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
