To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this celebration in San Francisco, the APA Heritage Foundation has sponsored the production of a documentary which was screened during the APA Heritage Awards event on May 1.

Titled after this yearā€™s theme ā€œMoving Forward Together,ā€ this short 6-minutes video tells the story of the community celebration that started 20 years ago, what we are celebrating and why.
The video ends with a positively joyful message to everyone, ā€œJoin Us, Letā€™s Celebrate Together!"

Here is the link to the video and we hope you would share it out in your upcoming newsletter and announcements.

Please join Monthanus Ratanapakdee this Sunday, August 28 at 11am on the South West corner of California Street and Grant Avenue to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of her fatherā€™s mural unveiling.Ā

Projected Schedule:

Community GatheringĀ

11am-12pmĀ
We'd like to use this opportunity to celebrate Vicha's life. We'll clean his mural, discuss a street renaming project, and have an open forum discussion on anti Asian hate.Ā

We also want to discuss the accomplishments, positive moments, and friendships that have developed during a time of anti Asian hate.

Vicha Lunch

12pm-1pm

To honor Vichaā€™s memory, we encourage all attendees to not eat beef and to eat as much plant based food as possible.

This is an opportunity for the community and new members to engage each other in meaningful conversation, and to support each other.

Chinatown Rising | CHINATOWN RISING presented by CATS/Silicon Valley Asian Pacific Film Festival | Chinatown Rising 05/04/2022

For Asian Heritage month, here's a film that provides how and why the Asian American movement started in the 60s-80s in SF Chinatown.

How regular people felt compelled to step up to protect their community as well as a retrospective of how these activists viewed those times 45 years later. This is a story that resonates with members of UPC to diligently take care of our community.

Watch this free film screening from Tue, May 3- Sun, May 8th
