On this , we look back on Measure B, which appeared on the ballot in March 1996, with the question posed to voters: "Shall various City ordinances be changed so that a ballpark may be built at China Basin?" The Measure passed with more than 66% of the vote, paving the way for Oracle Park to be built in an area once occupied by shipyards! ⚾️

❌Myth: I can’t register to vote because I don’t have a driver’s license.

✅Fact: In California, you do not need to have a driver’s license to register to vote. Instead, you may provide your California ID number, the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, or demonstrate proof of residency or identity using any of the many other forms of acceptable identification listed here: https://bit.ly/4cZeLMB

We’re back with more content – providing trusted election-related information on social media.

Today’s topic: voting from abroad.

❌Myth: I can’t vote because I’m overseas.

✅Fact: Under federal law, you can register and vote while overseas if you are an active member of the US military, a spouse or dependent of an active member of the US military, or, a US citizen living abroad (whether temporarily or permanently).

✅Fact: In San Francisco, you can register as a military or overseas voter if your last known home address was located in San Francisco. If you have never lived in the US, you can use the last-known San Francisco address of your parent or guardian.

✅Fact: You can register to become a military or overseas voter by completing and returning a Federal Post Card Application, or, by completing the online registration form at registertovote.ca.gov.

✅Fact: In addition to having the same vote-by-mail and accessible voting options as all San Francisco voters, overseas voters have the option of returning their ballot by fax. Learn more about our military and overseas voters program at sfelections.gov/milos.

The anticipation to see election results after polls close on Election Day is nothing new! Take a look at this scene from 1902, showing thousands of San Franciscans gathered at Third and Market street to see election results displayed outside the Call building (which still stands today)!

Now, you can see preliminary results soon after polls close at sfelections.gov/results, or, if you prefer to gather like its 1902, you can come to City Hall’s North Light Court to see election results displayed on the big screen!

We’re back with more content – providing trusted election-related information on social media. Today’s topic: college students!

❌Myth: College students must vote in their hometown.

✅Fact: College students have options! They can either register and vote in the county where their permanent home address is located, or, in the county where they attend college (as long as they attend in-person classes and live in the county). While some college students may have dual residency (home address and campus address), they can only register and vote using one residential address.

Hey SF! 👋 Every voter has the right to a secret ballot - it's in the Voter Bill of Rights! 📜 But did you know that you are encouraged to SHARE your Voter Information Pamphlet with members of your household? Every voter in your household will automatically receive a paper Pamphlet in the mail, unless you opt out of postal delivery.

If all but one household member opts out, you'll get one Pamphlet in the mail for your household to share instead of multiple copies of the same booklet. 📚 This helps conserve resources, saves taxpayer dollars, and reduces the burden on postal workers and letter carriers who hand-deliver these pamphlets to SF households across the City! 🤝

Opt out today at sfelections.gov/paperless ✅

We’re back with more content – providing trusted election-related information on social media. Today’s topic: poll workers!

❌Myth: I have to be a US citizen to serve as a poll worker.

✅Fact: You can serve as a poll worker if you are a US citizen or a legal permanent resident and at least 18 years old on Election Day.

✅Fact: You can also serve as a poll worker if you are a high school student that will be at least 16 years old on Election Day, have at least a 2.5 GPA, have permission from your parent/guardian, can complete online or in-person training, and can serve from 6am to 9pm on Election Day.

✅Fact: Poll workers earn a stipend ranging from $225-$295, learn firsthand how elections are run, provide much needed support at polling places, contribute to their communities, and end their day with a better understanding of the importance of voting and the vital role poll workers play in making our elections run smoothly.
