Free 2024 Summer Meals and Recreation Activities - Parkways 07/02/2024

This summer, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle Human Services Department, and United Way of King County are partnering to host a drop-in summer program offering FREE meals and recreation activities. The meals and recreation program will run daily from July 1 to August 23 from 10am to 4pm rain or shine at 13 park sites across Seattle

A free lunch and snack will be offered to youth ages 0 to 18. Free recreation activities are open for kids and teens ages 5 to 18 and may include arts, crafts, board games, and organized recreational games.

No fee, sign-up, or proof of identity or legal status is required to receive summer meals.

2024 Summer of Safety: Free Activities and Safe Places for Youth - Parkways 07/01/2024

Seattle Parks and Recreation is proud to offer Summer of Safety (SOS), a FREE program that provides structured activities and a safe space for young people not connected to other supervised programs over the summer. The program is geared towards serving diverse groups of tweens and teens from low-income neighborhoods.

SOS will operate at 8 community center locations on various days throughout summer (see schedule below). Most sites will provide a free lunch through the City’s Summer Food Service Program. Regular SOS activities will include field trips, arts and craft, as well as sports and athletics. The program will operate rain or shine and no sign up is required (pre-register only for fieldtrips); youth can drop in on any day and at any time during the program’s regular hours.

Seattle teens, 13 - 19 years old, do you want to make a positive impact on your city?!

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), non-profit partner to Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR), is recruiting teens to help establish a youth-led Citywide Advisory Council. The Youth Advisory Council will join the existing advisory council system comprised of 36 adult-led advisory councils across Seattle.

Benefits to participants on the Youth Advisory Council will include:

✔️ $300 stipend paid every six months ($600/year)

✔️ Food will be provided at each meeting along with a $25 gift card

✔️ Volunteer Service Hours toward H.S. graduation

✔️ Influence SPR youth activities across the city

✔️ Career development and mentorship

✔️ Opportunity to advise key decision-makers and stakeholders

✔️ Active membership in the SPARC Advisory Council system
