Hi all! See the information below for details about SU's Naef Scholarship (due 4/6):
Origin & History of the Program
This program is designed to support, financially and educationally, upper division undergraduate students of Seattle University who have demonstrated intellectual skill and leadership potential. Made possible by an endowment gift from the estate of Sue M. Naef (+1982), this program, since its inception, sought to recognize students in all undergraduate schools and programs of the University and to bring them together as a community of scholars, leaders, and persons in service to the University and to the community. Upon the establishment of the Sullivan Scholarship it was determined that Sullivan Scholars would not be eligible for the Naef Scholars Program. Likewise, because of the gift of the Bannan family to the School of Science and Engineering for the creation of a program similar to the Sue Naef Scholarship Program, it has been determined that students enrolled in the School of Science and Engineering are not eligible to apply for the Naef Scholarship.
Qualifications
With the exception of those students referred to in the preceding paragraph and fifth year seniors who are also ineligible, any undergraduate of Seattle University is eligible for this award if that student meets the requirements listed below. Students who are double majoring and one of whose degrees is being earned in an eligible college are welcome to apply. It is also worth noting that international students are also eligible.
Requirements
1. Completion of at least 90 credit hours at Seattle University by the time of the award, i.e. Fall Quarter of 2016. No transfer or AP/IB credits are included.(Students are thus eligible as they enter their third or fourth year at Seattle University; fifth year seniors are not eligible as the institutional policy on gift aid has historically indicated.)
2. A Seattle University GPA of 3.4 or above.
3. Intent to pursue a full-time degree program (i.e. 45 credits) at Seattle University during the year of the award. (This may include one quarter of study abroad, provided that Seattle University is the institution receiving the “tuition dollars.”)
4. Demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to service in the University and/or community at large.
5. A commitment to participate in the Naef Scholars Program during the year of the award.
6. Naef Scholar for no more than two years.
