The cost of basic needs is rising and many families struggle. Help us give babies and their families a healthy start by donating items for our Community Baby Shower.

Items from our wish list can be dropped off at the MLK Center March 25th-April 11th 8-4:00pm.

03/19/2024

The MLK Center is hosting a Community Baby Shower on Saturday, April 13th, 12-2pm for expecting parents, new parents and parents of children 3 years old or younger.

What is a Community Baby Shower? It’s an interactive free event that invites parents and community service providers to get together for an educational “baby shower.” Join us for food, games, and giveaways (baby essentials).

Our Purpose

The MLK Jr Family Outreach Center houses a number of resources for East Central Spokane. Community partners housed in the “Center” include SNAP, W.I.C, and CCS Headstart. We foster developing stronger families through innovative parent education programs for on-site and in-home visitation throughout Spokane. We also house a state-funded ECEAP preschool program that is free to income-eligible families.

The MLK Jr Family Outreach Center offers childcare support for working families by providing quality and affordable after-school and summer programs for children, youth and teens. These programs foster youth development and job skills by promoting leadership and delivering relationship-based family support services that honor and respect cultural diversity. Here at the “Center” we encourage community involvement by providing individual and corporate volunteer opportunities as well as active-donor membership. We remain committed to recruiting and maintaining a culturally and ethnically diverse staff and volunteers that promote and maintain the values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
