Join us, July 13th, 6pm at Prohibition Gastropub for a celebration of Travis Hurley’s life.
Travis Jackson Hurley was born on January 2, 1982 and passed away on January 22 2024 at the age of 42.
Travis was raised in Spokane and graduated from Ferris High School. In his youth Travis developed a passion for music becoming an accomplished well known professional percussionist in the Spokane music scene where he played in several groups such as IDK, Fine For Now, La Cha Cha, The Longnecks and Summer in Siberia. He certainly had a gift for being a reliable time keeper and brought energy to whoever he played with.
Travis also had a passion for people and used his gift in the hospitality industry as a server and bartender working in several establishments in the Spokane area. Always quick with a smile and a joke (clean or otherwise) and an interest in whoever he served.
In 2021 Travis suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital where he had two blood clots dissolved. While there he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart), a genetically predisposed condition. Travis was treated aggressively through medications and after several prolonged hospital stays, the condition worsened where finally he was admitted to the CICU unit at Sacred Heart Hospital. While there awaiting a heart transplant he was kept alive by way of two heart pumps and quickly was placed at the top of the transplant list only to have multiple setbacks which led to the impossibility of achieving the transplant.
Realizing his fate and with all his family surrounding him Travis peacefully and with dignity by his own decision passed on January 22, 2024.
The courage he displayed was incredible. For such a short time spent on this earth Travis lived with passion and on his terms, never complaining or assigning blame for the hand he was dealt. He will be dearly missed every day.
