We're reaching out to the most vulnerable in Spokane & Stevens Counties to make this region better.
The Salvation Army Spokane has a limited supply of new backpacks with school supplies that will be handed out next week for local students, grades K-12.
All backpacks will be available while supplies last on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 am to 3 pm beginning Monday, August 19, at The Army's Family Resource Center, 204 E. Indiana Ave., Spokane.
All parents or guardians need to bring the following items:
* Photo ID of parent/guardian
* Proof of every child in the household (birth certificate, medical card, or social security card).

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers for its 15th Annual 'Backpacks for Kids distribution.
This free event, which is held in collaboration with nomnom Convenient Stores, will be held on August 14. Volunteers are needed in various roles, including packing 4,000 new backpacks with school supplies, helping at the event itself, and assisting with cleanup the day after.
Backpacks for Kids will also include a community vendor fair, food, and drinks. This event, which is free to the community, will be held at The Salvation Army, 222 E. Indiana Ave., Spokane, WA 99207.
Various shifts are available.
