St. Leo Food Connection
The Food Connection has been fighting hunger in Pierce County since 1982.
Our main food bank is located in Tacoma, our mobile food bank is in the Springbrook area of Lakewood, and our children's programs support hungry students throughout the year.
Thank you, Fr. Michael, from St. Leo Parish and our newest volunteers Maggie, Marianne and David. Thank you for your support in helping us with the Backpack Program.
Itโs a wrap. People for Animal Care & Kindness first vaccine clinic was a success. Three veterinarians, four techs and a hand full of volunteers. They vaccinated sixty animals today, we made such a great team. From checking our clients in to vaccinated, provided food, jackets, leashes and harnesses and a handful of nail trims. The owners of these lovely pets were very grateful for our services. Stay tuned for another date.

I am incredibly appreciative of all the volunteers that help me distribute our food bags to 42 schools in Pierce County every Thursday and Friday. We were giving our backpacks to 825 students just 2 years ago. As of yesterday, 1,661 are being served.
We appreciate the volunteers' unwavering commitment and support to our work.
Children's Feeding is looking for a few volunteers to help bag snacks for the backpack program this week. Come see Shawn Walton. Thank you for your continued support.
The Backpack program is about to get underway. Preparing for the roughly 1,600 pupils who receive our Friday backpacks is a big task. Placing the fruit, snack, and meal orders. To ensure that every rack on our production line is stocked for the 42 schools we serve. Everything is finished in four days, with delivery taking place on Thursday and Friday.

Tacoma food bank falls victim to break-ins St. Leo Food Connection is a lifeline for thousands of families in Pierce County. But this week, the Tacoma food bank became the target of criminals. Twice.
https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/tacoma-food-bank-van-theft
Thieves steal van, damage another from Tacoma food bank in one week One of the largest emergency food banks in Pierce County has been hit by thieves two nights in a row.
More bad news, attempting to do a delivery and went to load another one of the vans we discovered someone tried to steal that van as well. Ignition damaged so we have another van out of commission. Let us hope with the video we have and the police helping we find our thieves.
We regret to inform you that one of the vans we use to deliver and pick up food has been stolen right out of our parking lot. Kindly keep a look out for it. This is how the van looks; it has the number 7109 on both sides and a sticker that reads "Donated by Pierce County Transit" on the back driver's side window. If you do see it, please call non-emergency and refer to case # 2412201410
