SEARCH CONTINUES FOR 88-YEAR OLD CHARLIE MARTIN
KCSO and Kittitas County Search & Rescue are still searching for 88-year old William "Charlie" Martin of Redmond. Mr. Martin has dementia and left home unbeknownst to his family on 9/24/24. They searched everywhere until his vehicle was finally found on 9/26, abandoned, in the mountainous Colockum area northeast of Ellensburg.
Since then, trained search teams and resources from Chelan, Pierce, Yakima, Snohomish, and King Counties and Wenatchee Valley Fire have assisted in the search with drones, dogs, and ORV's. Charlie's family is on scene and working with the teams continually.
The search zone, approximately shown in this map, is a popular hunting area. We're asking any hunters who might have motion-sensitive game cameras in this area to check their photo feed or camera for any sign of Mr. Martin.
Please keep Charlie and his family in your thoughts. Those who want to support this effort, and this kind of effort, are encouraged to contribute or consider volunteering at your county's Search and Rescue organization.
We are out here training and have had the pleasure of meeting lots of Hikers and some hunters and even some mountain bikers!
We were also joined by a few members of the Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue unit to cross train with us!
If your not here volunteering with us your missing out!
