Soroptimist International of Visalia California Inc
We provide women & girls access to education and training needed to achieve economic empowerment. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt organization.
Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. We are the Visalia Chapter, chartered in 1939, of this amazing service club! Soroptimist was founded in 1921 in Oakland, California, by a group of businesswomen who wanted to have a service club similar to those already in existence for m
This is always a fun and unique event! Support our Soroptimist sisters of the Tulare club!
We had the great privilege of hearing from Kirk Shrum, Visalia Unified School District Superintendent, at our gathering last night. Amazing things are happening at VUSD and the best part……they are providing an array of opportunities for the community to be involved in planning for the future. Watch for their “red carpet” free event at the Fox Theater on September 24 for the Strategic Plan premier! The mission of Soroptimist is empowering women and girls through education so, naturally, we had an abundance of questions, comments, and offered our support to get our community engaged!
Women's Equality Day is celebrated in the United States on August 26 to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of s*x. The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.
Applications are now open!
Our mission is to provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. With that focus, we offer this opportunity to hear from our Visalia Unified School District Superintendent, Kirk Shrum. RSVP as indicated in flyer and join us!
The Live Your Dream awards are designed for women who are the primary financial support for their families and are enrolled in an academic or training program. Applications are now open and close November 15. Soroptimist International of Visalia honors recipients at a special community dinner in February. We love empowering women through education and mentoring. This could be you or someone you know! See link below to find more information, or on our website sivisalia.org, or email [email protected]

Dream It Be It is our annual conference for female youth! This year, it was hosted at COS. It was a fun and fabulous event! Two lucky awardees took home $500 each! One of the awardees was from Visalia.
🌊 When you support Spring Fling you support our many programs for women and girls in the community!
🌊 One of our programs is called VAWA - which stands for Violence Against Women Awareness.
We purchase Christmas gifts and host a Mother’s Day brunch for the clients of Karen’s house.
🌊 Karen’s House, offers confidential shelter, meals, and comprehensive support services to male and female victims of domestic violence and their children at no charge while they work to reestablish their lives in a supportive environment. Victims and their children can receive free counseling, and our program also offers case management, support groups, financial empowerment training, legal services, and specialized services for children.

“I’ve been a Soroptimist member for 15 years now. A friend that I knew through church choir and nursing school invited me to join. At first, I said no because I couldn’t get away from my job for noon meetings but eventually I changed jobs and was available to come. Because many younger women can also not make noon meetings, we eventually changed our meeting times to one noon and one evening meeting a month.
What I love about Soroptimist are the smart, creative, caring members who are committed to helping each other and all women get ahead. There is a positive “can do” attitude in the club that encourages each member to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. My husband has commented on how impressed he is that our leadership changes every year and the outgoing Board is so supportive of the incoming Board.
I have met many wonderful new friends that I would never have met without my membership in Soroptimist and have had an opportunity to be involved in community projects that have made my life much richer.” -Judy
