To celebrate the 2024 Olympics our Emergency Department has created its own version of the Olympic Games comprised of team-building activities, metrics competitions, and skills demonstrations. Events have included Terrific Teammate Tuesday and Belmont Races. We'd like to thank our ED Nurses, Techs, and Paramedics for putting together this fun activity while continuing to provide quality care.

During the recent Crowdstrike which affected millions of individuals worldwide, our Information Services team worked tirelessly to ensure our hospital remained operational. Earlier this month, Lauren Wohl from Quality and Dr. Sheetal Sheth, present about Data Driven Management of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP) at the Premier Conference at the Ga***rd Convention Center in Maryland. The duo shared how GW Hospital has initiated a call-back program for HDP patients and successfully facilities an innovative partnership to reduce the racial gap in obtaining a blood pressure cuff and post-partum monitor of blood pressure. Job well done ladies!

Recently the GW Amputee Support Group hosted a picnic to promote connections and community amongst the limb loss community. Joining our group at the event were District Amputee Care Center, Hanger Clinic, and Medical Center Orthotics and Prosthetics. The event proved to be a wonderful time of enjoying delicious food and discussing ways to support those individuals who have experienced limb loss.

Earlier this month, nurses from Labor & Delivery, Operating Room, Emergency Department, the ICU, and the Cardiovascular Center completed their Residency Program by presenting their evidence-based projects to leaders from throughout the hospital. As you are probably aware, Crowdstrike, a Microsoft vendor, pushed a software update last night that had a technical error. This has had a worldwide impact as reported in the media. While things may take a little more time than usual, George Washington University Hospital is open and remains operational!

This is not a cyberattack but a coding error by the IT vendor. The vendor has pushed out a patch which is currently being implemented in all systems. Our teams are actively working to resolve the issues, we apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
